Steps to reproduce:
1. Import the attached fbx file(it's a skinned animation downloaded from mixamo)
2. Select the armature
3. Click "Create Control Rig" button of the mixamo addon, then the error occurs
Issue happens on both blender 3.1 and 3.0.1
Similar posts with same error exist in community, but the issue seems not fixed yet.

well as a coder I personally find control rigs offensive however I tested the model and rig at my end... following the tutorial Adobe posted with the rig
https://substance3d.adobe.com/plugins/mixamo-in-blender/
I have a Windows laptop with both
Blender 2.9.2 and Blender 3.1
https://download.blender.org/release/Blender2.92/
https://download.blender.org/release/Blender3.1/
the script works as expected on my end

Found workaround:
Upload the model (even though it was itself downloaded from maxiamo) again to maxiamo for auto-rigging.
My guess is maxiamo has compatibility issue with its old model / animations. So after upload the model again, the issue is gone.

that model is not a true Mixamo rig because the hands have been tagged to stay on her sword but yes the tutorial clearly tells you to reupload your models to ensure you have a fresh Mixamo rig to work with... well done on getting your model fixed
