Hello.  I am trying to download a Mixamo model with no skin so I can use an existing motion capture FBX file that I uploaded to Maya and bind its skin to the Mixamo model in Maya.  That will allow the Mixamo model to do the movements of my motion capture FBX file that was recorded with our motion capture cameras and exported from Motive (Optitrack software).

I only have the option to adjust the format and pose when downloading from Mixamo.  It is a model that I am trying to download without adding any animations to it.  Any help on how to download a model with no animation and no skin would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

the type of Fbx file matters so imo your best workflow is;

1 download the model with textures as shown in your screenshot

2 open that model in a 3D editing software like Blender and adjust it i.e, remove the texture and may also want to make file changes because Maya needs to match its build to which version of Fbx it wants to use

Is it possible to just download it with no skin from Mixamo instead of going through all of the steps in Blender to remove the textures?  I have been trying to figure out how to make a model downloaded from the Internet do the movements of my existing motion capture for months.  There is roadblock after roadblock.

I've tried programs like Turbosquid, SketchFab, and Free3D.  But, none of those models will allow me to properly connect my motion capture or if they do, the resulting movements of the model look wonky.  I was only able to get one very generic man in a T pose to do the movements of my motion capture FBX.

I'm trying to do what's shown in the tutorial below.

The bind skin concept is pretty basic.  But, every model I've downloaded (except the one very basic man figure) has had some kind of skin, texture, or animation attached to it that won't let me connect my motion capture movements to the model properly.  Or, if it doesn't have a skin attached to it, its T pose is very different in size to the T pose of my motion capture FBX file.  Mixamo is the first site I've found that seems to have a lot of models to choose from that are in the type of T pose I need.

I've also been working through a paid tutorial on udemy.  But, that tutorial just has the user connect the animation to the model right in Mixamo.  I haven't been able to find any models (besides that one very generic man) that will allow me to connect my existing motion capture to a model and have it work properly.

Okay, thanks again.

well yes and no

yes if you add animation then Mixamo will give you the option to remove 'skin' in the download however

no thats not what 'skin' means in 3D models a 'skin' is the actual model i.e, hands torso and all not just the textures... the point of downloading without 'skin' is to just have the bones and their animation that way if you download a dozen animations for one model then you don't need 12 copies of the same model and can save a bit of space
