  • Typekit doesn't exist anymore.
  • Since 2018, Muse is unsupported End of Life software.
  • Muse will never be updated.
  • Use Muse at your own risk or switch to other software.

OPTION 1: Remove all Typekit fonts from your site one-by-one and hope you find them all.

OPTION 2: Rebuild your site without Typekit or any Themes or Widgets that rely on Typekit fonts.

NUCLEAR OPTION:  Maintain your site's web web files with a plain code editor and never use Muse again.  Site files can be dowloaded from

Typekit doesn't exist anymore.  It was replaced by Adobe Fonts

Discontinued Muse has been End of Life since 2018 so nobody is updating it.

1. Export Muse projects to HTML.

2. Use Dreamweaver or any other decent code editor to FIND and remove all references to Typekit scripts.

3. Save documents.

NOTE:  This is a one-way trip out.  You can't use Muse again.  If you do, Muse will just undo your code changes.

-- Pinegrow - https://pinegrow.com/
-- Sublime Text - http://www.sublimetext.com/

I am aware it is discontinued and typekit is renamed. Muse worked until yesterday. There is no way to link it back? I have access to Adobe Fonts, anyone with a subscription does.

This is what I found, I logged out and restarted my laptop, Muse worked again for a bit then I'm getting the "Your account doesn't have access to Typekit" message again and I can't load dge Web Fonts. I've got a full subscription to Adobe Suite and Adobe fonts. I know muse isn't supported anymore but you can't just leave us in the lurch with some of the legacy sites that don't want to upgrade.

Firstly don't listen to Nancy. Secondly the only solution at the minute is to replace all typekit fonts with other self hosted fonts (upload them via self hosted) - you can download all font files for Google fonts here: https://gwfh.mranftl.com/fonts

If you remove all typekit fonts completely it will build your site

Sure, Nancy...I'll spend a lot of time learning how to use a web editor such as Dreamweaver. And while I'm at it, I'll also tackle string theory.

Web design isn't for everyone. Technology doesn't stop changing for anyone.  It requires constant learning of new skills that spans your entire professional life.  Today it's one thing, tomorrow it will be another...

When learning stops, you fall hopelessly behind -- at which point it's best to step aside and let professionals take over.

I agree, but you have to pick your battles. Learning to proficiently code HTML is a difficult initiative, at best. And Dreamweaver kind of requires you to have at least a decent foundation of HTML, no? Learning fluency in this Adobe product is definitely not like falling off a log.

Anyone can learn basic HTML & CSS in a weekend if they want to.  It's not hard.  Believe me, there's a much steeper learning curve to using Photoshop or XD than there is to coding a web page.  Every journey begins with a first step.

Coding in HTML will certainly not be the future of web design (for most projects). My guess: There will be something like Figma but it will not stop at prototyping and click-dummies, instead it will be able to publish real websites (pretty similar to Muse which was useful for both publishing websites and prototyping). This will save a lot of time and money.

Maybe something like this is allready there. Take a look at Framer.

Nobody know what the future will be.

I can't comment on Figma, Adobe's deal hasn't been approvedI by DOJ yet. We'll have to wait & see what happens.

I looked at Framer.  To be honest, I'm not impressed with the platform & ecosystem they lock you into. It might be OK for some folks but as a developer with multiple projects on multiple servers, it's not for me.

If coding just 'aint your thing [sic], look at WordPress with Block-Themes. Block-themes give you drag & drop ease of use without having to write code.  But for developers like me who like to work with HTML, CSS and PHP code, that option is available too.

WordPress is the most used web platform in the world.  It's open source, well-documented with massive support from a global community of users & developers.   There's not much WordPress can't do if you know how.  And if you don't know how, there are thousands of commercial WP Themes & plugins to help you be your inner rock star. 🙂

I totally agree with you about what you say aabout the platform and ecosystem one gets locked into with Framer.

Iwant a tool that can export HTML that I can put on any web server. But the all in one application workflow from concept and design to published website is just great and promises very high efficency.

Wordpress surely is a capable plattform.

But I prefer something where I can start with a blank canvas and not a theme. I do not work with themes in Illustrator or InDesign neither. And even though in HTML kind of everythink really somehow is about boxes, I do not want to be restricted to think in boxes if I am using a visual editor. That's why I liked Muse so much. And that is why I like Wix and Sparkle.

There's no such thing as random.  Experienced artists know this and use grids & wireframes to create cohesive artworks. You may not see them, but they are there.  Without structure, everything we create would be a chaotic mess.

Web browsers can't interpret randomly placed elements if there's no structure to hold them.   You may not see them, but they are there. Historically, web designers have relied on tables & table-cells, CSS Flexbox and most recently CSS Grids  -- boxes by another name.

Once you wrap your head around the grid concept, everything including art, sculpture, architecture, interior design & web design becomes much easier.

I know about tables (historically web designers have relied on them because they had no alternatives) , CSS Flexbox and CSS Grids. And yes, I dont see these boxes. And I dont want to see them. Because neither do the users of the websites. And I build websites which are supposed to target people, not structures of boxes. The boxes might be necessary, but they may stay in the background, please.

I am aware that grids can be helpful for layout and design. But I do not think they are that essential. You should not be forced to use them.

Structure may help you. But it may also restrict you.

If any of the text boxes have even 1 typekit font in it, it will error - this sometimes can be a blank space after some characters. Always best to select the text box as a whole and change font from the top menu rather than selecting the letters and changing as some can be missed.

Try starting a new site in Muse with a few standard fonts and building, if it works for you it is definitely because you still have some typekit fonts left lurking somewhere.

I have nothing selected, neither a text box nor text, and I get a font that was with typekit, how can I delete it so it doesn't appear anymore in my project? I have tried from adobe fonts and there is no way, I can't get to it opening the project with muse.... I'm going crazy with this.

You must have some typekit fonts still somewhere on the site, try starting a new site/project adding a couple of standard fonts and see if builds. You can also start a new project and slowly copy and paste in place your old site - testing periodically you can still build - until you find the offending font.

Hi Nancy. I do think so of your comments are a bit overly simple. I do or rather did have a reasonabley basic understanding og HTML and it took me a bit more than a weekend to get to grips with it to avchieve what I wanted using Dreamweaver about 10 years ago. Then along came Muse and this gave me more relaible results and also the ability to have muliple formats of my pages for different devices, so I was pretty disappointed when Adobe trashed Muse, but up until now its been fine as it was. I get things change but a bit of heads up would be helpful and maybe some work arounds even. All that aside could you please answer one question for me. If I swap out all my typekit fonts for a google web font should I be able to uplaod my site? I think I have done this but I am still getting the 403 Typekit error when I try and uplaod it and the same error when I open the Muse project. Is there something embedded in the site settings that references Typekit fonts even though you are not using them, and if so is there a way of removing this reference? Cheers Peter

Hi Nancy. Answered my own question. A stray peice of text masquerading a grahpic so all good. To anyone having issues with this mght be worth checking in para styles you have used to track down elusive bits of text.
