I used to have several Muse websites all hosted by Business Catalyst. Long ago I moved, but 'behind the scenes' I still have all my old Muse files and I use them for storing information from the past.
Does anybody know how long I will have access to these files?
I keep getting messages from Business Catalyst that they are ceasing to exist in September 2021. Will this have any effect of my access to my old Muse files?
I've aked Adobe, they won't answer; I can't find a way to ask Business Catalyst. I wondered if anybody on this forum could help me. Thank you

As long as you have the muse files on your computer and have a full subscription plan you will probably have Muse to use and so you'll have access to your muse files. BC is EOL as well and everything you might need from BC should be stored anywhere else on your computer. We have no further information wether Muse will be sometimes not working anymore except the fact that newer OS's have quite issues with Muse and so will sooner or later Browsers. Hosting should be moved as well, of course.
Does this help?
Kind Regards,
Uwe

Hi Gay,
My only comment would be that the text on your Muse sites pages are held in those Muse files.
Other assets such as image usually reside externally.
If you were to lose access to Muse or those Muse files became corrupted, you'd lose the textual content.
That's why I suggested a "belt and braces" approach by using File > Export as HTML as a means
to make a local copy on your computer.
That way if trouble hits, you at least have a readble copy from an archive point of view.

@fotoroeder Uwe is absolutely correct.
May I add a suggestion? Please also publish your Muse files to your local PC / Mac
as an added precaution to losing the formatted information.

Launching discontinued apps on newer operating systems becomes dicier with each OS update. There's no telling how much longer you will be able to access Muse.
Fireworks is another discontinued app. Since the latest Win 10 updates rolled out, FW refuses to open. Eventually, the same will happen with Muse. It's not a question of "if it will happen" but "when." So be prepared.
Exporting Muse sites to HTML is a very good suggestion. HTML files can be opened in any browser or plain text/code editor of choice.
