Adding code to <head> : Master or Design Page or both

I know there are many forums about adding the Google Analytics code to the <head>. My question is, do I add it to my Master pages or my Layout Pages? I noticed that if I add it to my Master Pages, then I go to Page Properties on my Layout Pages and the <head> section is blank. Do I add it twice?

As far as I know it is better to add it only to the pages.

But – there might be widgets that "allow" to add it to master as well.

So, it depends .

It was 2012, but don`t think, there changed too much till then.

Why do you want to add it to the head html?

What i do is go to object > insert html

Paste your analytics code there.

you add it once... be that head on master or page or even html code.

adding it more that once does no good and may even count against you sometimes but the design (widgets, blogs and such) may use code that gets in the way of Google Analytics code so that is why you have different options as to how and where you place it in your site.
