Featured News Widget - previous / next arrows still visible when targets hidden

Hi all - wonder if anyone can help.

Using the Featured News Widget, I've create a grid of images each of which is trigger to launch a gallery of targets, therefore I need previous / next arrows (and close) parts to be active. So they are all selected in the Composition Options box,

I've selected the 'Hide all initially' option in the options box and it works fine except the previous / next arrows are still visible even before any target is triggered. See below - with arrows circled in red.

And here's a shot with the overlaid target gallery which is what is launched when you click a trigger image (included for clarification!)

Look forward to comments.

Many thanks
