Home page (index.html) slow to load Muse cc2018

The websites that I have updated to Muse CC 2018.0 all have slow loading home pages (index.html) files.

The client complaints are starting to roll in, and understandably so.

I define slow loading (for Muse built websites) as 10 to 30 + seconds.

I have two questions:

  1. What is the cause of this?
  2. Is there a solution?

Regards.

I optimise images to be at size @2x where applicable.

Full screen images are max width of 2000px @ 72ppi.

All other files are:

  1. jpeg, 72ppi @2x at 100% viewing size (where applicable)
  2. transparent png 72ppi @2x at 100% viewing size (where applicable)
  3. .svg for vector art

This is my standard workflow with the exception of some images in Responsive sites.

In short, yes, the images are optimised.

I do use Google Page Speed Insights.

Hey Christo14,

There can be several facators leading to slow load which we need to check.

Can you please the URL of site in question for further investigation?

Regards,

Ankush

Thanks, will do.

I am also investigating this with my hosting provider.

Once instance was a default temp home (index.php) page was not removed on upload of new website.

The other instances are since updating the websites in question to Muse 2018.0.

Websites that have not ben updated - ie I still use Muse CC 2017.0 to update them do not seem to have the same problem.

I am investigating one web site at at time.

I will upload domains as I look at them when I am satisfied that it is not my error in some way in each instance.

Thanks again.

Did you optimize your images for the web beforehand in Photoshop to reduce filesize?

That's usually the first place to start.

For other tips, check your URL on Google Page Speed Insights.

Animate CC generates huge files.  If you're using Animate projects in your websites, try removing them to see if it improves performance.
