The desktop version of my site is perfect.  The mobile shows with missing images, missing text, etc.  What is the problem?

No you can't. You can use your desktop site, create an additional phone site by using menu "Page/Add Alternate Layout/Phone" and copy the content of your separate phone site into it.

What should we say?

How did you upload your site?

Does it work, if you „Export as HTML?

Does it work,if you publish to a free test site at Businesscatalyst? („Publish“ button top right of the Muse applocation nwindow)

I publish both a desktop version and a mobile version (separate muse files) for our site, then I replace every file but the phone file into the mobile export folder.  Then I overwrite all current files into the content management folder.  I'm new at all of this.  Does this make any sense?  I'm more of a designer and less of a web tech... I'm going to need everything you say dumbed down.  lol.

Obviously you didn’t use Muse to upload your site. Muse doesn’t work with „separate files“. You upload one file containing all versions. If you don’t do that, I think, you’ll have no success.

I build two dedicated Muse files - one dedicated for Desktop and one dedicated for Mobile.  Once I finish building them, I export both into html format in order to upload to my website location.  Before I upload it, I combine the two html exports into one export folder.  Is exporting separate html files and combining them outside of Muse causing any issues that you are aware of?  Or should I consider combining the two muse files into one so the exporting to html will function properly?  I'm using Muse to build it all, however, when I upload it, I'm combining html files together outside of Muse.

Is there a way to merge the separate mobile file into the existing Desktop file?

You should upload only one .muse. If you export one muse or upload one muse should not be the problem.

If you upload the desktop version, without a phone version, your ftp, browsers do not have clue that there is a phone version in a separate folder and not even to link to it.

Muse creates the code, so if you use two different layout as an adaptive layout, rather than a responsive layout, muse codes this and links this, depending on device, the site is visited with.

In Muse you can choose alternative layout for desktop, tablet and phone. Then muse knows which code to write, where to direct users.

Does this make it more clear to you?

Best Regards,

Uwe
