Does Muse exit, when you start it, without opening a document?

Muse works the same way -- that is, it does not work -- with other versions too

If you start Muse not by double clicking a document, and it exits during startup, the issue seems to be Muse-- and not document related.

If you are on a Mac, I’d try this:

  • Create a new (test) account on your machine and start Muse from this account. What happens?
  • Go to "Library/Preferences/Adobe" and move all folders, named with "Adobe Muse CC …" into your thrash can (but don’t empty the trash!); Do the same with the file "Library/Preferences/com.adobe.Muse.application.plist". Then restart Muse. It it starts successfully, move the "Libraries" Folder from the trash back to its place and test again.
  • You may as well delete Muse and its related files from your computer, USING THE CC DESKTOP APP. (not manually!) When the app asks, whether to delete only the app or the preferences too, delete app and preferences. In this case be cautions: If you have n individual subscription of Muse, you can’t reinstall it. This is only possible, if you have a complete CC subscrition.
  • You may also try to start Muse after interrupting your internet connection, and re-connect to the internet, if Muse has started correctly.

  • The same thing! 🙂
  • You can create a new account and try opening Muse.
  • You may try to re-install Muse including(!!) its preferences via CC Desktop App.
  • You may try to start Muse without being connected to the internet.
  • You can try to hide the Muse preference files. Here is, what Ankush wrote some years ago:

"When are you facing such issue, does it also happen with a new file?

It might also happen because of preferences.

Please try the following steps see if any of them works.

Solution 1: Reset Preferences

  • Make sure Adobe Muse is not open.

For Windows:

  • Go to the following path in Windows Explorer. C:\Users\<user_name>\AppData\Roaming
  • (Replace <user_name> with your username)
  • Look for a folder named as "com.adobe.AdobeMuseCC.VERSION" and rename it to "com.adobe.AdobeMuseCC.VERSION_old"

For MAC:

  • Go to Following location ~/Library/Preferences
  • Rename the following folder by adding "_old" at the end of them
  • com.adobe.AdobeMuseCC.VERSION and AdobeMuse

Now try to launch Muse and check if it works

Solutions 2: Uninstall and Reinstall

Uninstall Muse from Creative Cloud application

During the process please click "Yes Remove Preferences"

Once Muse is uninstalled and reinstall it and try to launch"

By the way: Are you sure, that Muse doesn’t try to load an – eventually corrupt – file, when you launch it?

We met a sililar issue only once since this forum exists: Look here!

Hi, Günter,

thanks.

Unfortunately, neither method helped me.

The exiting error remains by change account and by reset preferences with both solution.

If I turn off the internet, the Muse works but without the internet I can't update my site with changes.

Muse doesn’t try to load an file, it try to load only itself.

If it works without intenet connection at startup, it should continue working, when you connect to the internet after starting Muse.

Hi, Günter,

thanks, it works.

Although I wouldn't expect Adobe to force such methods.

There is a known conflict with Windows Internet connection and Muse on startup.  Disconnecting from the Internet before you launch Muse is the only solution.  Don't expect a fix for this because Muse is End of Life.  Product support ends on March 26.
