Muse loads but then closes immediately - Microsoft Surface Book 3

I just downloaded Muse to my new Microsoft Surface Book 3, from Creative Cloud, but it does not work. It loads the Muse application, but once it loads, it closes immediately.  I have tried all versions, but still nothing works.  I have the original files that I saved for my projects, but they are not opening either.  The application closes before it opens the file.

Then it instantly closes before it does anything else.

I read in another post that if you look at he Computer Management > Application, and see the error log, then see what caused it to crash.  This is what I got.

Faulting application name: Muse.exe, version: 2018.1.1.6, time stamp: 0x5d3ed771
Faulting module name: PlugPlugOwl.dll, version: 8.0.0.54, time stamp: 0x59a6e826

Faulting package full name:

When I copy the dll from the "PlugPlugOwl.dll" from the illustrator folder, and paste over the muse file, this message happens.  That was a cure for someone else, but this is litterally a fresh install directly from Adobe Creative Cloud, so I don't know why that file keeps failing.

I tried all that too, and I continued to research this, and apparently the min requirement is a 2.0 GHz processor, and the Microsoft Surface Book 3 has 1.3 GHz, so that may be why as well. I had never been able to use Muse on the surface tablet, but it works on the other laptop with a higher than 2.0 GHz processor. Sadness....

Yes.  A "professional" web design course teaches code, not software.   😉

Software comes & goes.  Unlike software, coding skills will last you a lifetime.  Use whichever code editor you like.

Read chapters, do code examples, take quizzes at the end.

Hi @phjilek36,

Muse is End of Life.  It hasn't been updated in years and will never be updated again.  It is what it is and nobody should be using it for new projects.  That said, try disconnecting your Surface Pro from the Internet BEFORE you launch Muse.

Alternatively, use something other than Muse for web authoring.  See below.

Hi,

Those problems with Muse are really annoying. I've also tried everything, including overwriting PlugPlugOwl.dll with a copy of that file from Adobe Illustrator.
I don't think there is a problem with the processor speed. I have an 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-11900 @ 2.50GHz. The internal memory is 32GB and I have a super-fast Samsung 980 PRO on board. Nevertheless, Muse does NOT work. (It opens and closes immediately)

I wonder why Adobe itself doesn't propose the solution. Yes they don't support Muse anymore but I think if you keep Muse available within the Creative Cloud you actually have a duty of care to make suggestions to solve the problems. On the other hand, I completely agree with Nancy Oshea who says NOT to use Muse because it lacks support. Imagine if you do work in Muse and in a few years your website will go down because technology advances and your website no longer works properly.

Not spending any more time in Muse I would say despite the fact that I am currently taking a professional web designer course where Muse is mentioned time and again. incomprehensible??
Finally, I would like to say that all other Adobe applications work well on my computer.
