Hey, so far when placing items on my muse site I have not had any problems with image quality. All of a sudden, when placing items, they keep importing at a slightly smaller size then their actual size and if I try to scale them up to their actual dimensions they become pixelated and loose quality. Any idea why this may be?

Please share a newly created .muse file containing only one of these “badly behaving“ images together with the original image, which is placed in this file. Please follow these instructions: https://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-8652

@Günter Heißenbüttel  Sorry again about the wait, thank you for your patience. So in the file I linked you to, you will see that there are two comic windows displayed. The one that is on top of the other is the one that is not importing at the correct size when placed. It should be exactly the same size of the one under it, I've double and triple checked and the files sizes and they are exactly the same dimension but when ever I upload a new one it comes in a little smaller than it should.

How should we check this, if we don’t have the original images? Therefore I wrote "Please share a newly created .muse file containing only one of these “badly behaving“ images together with the original image, which is placed in this file."

In your sample file the assets panel says

• Episode_1_birthday.jpg: Original size: 962 x 2082 px placed size: 962 x 2083 px

• 6-05 am for site.jpg: Original size: 962 x 2070 px; placed size: 951 x 2048 px

From what we can see: The original size of your images are not the same, as you are stating.

But the reason for you issue seems to be a different one. Please try this:

  • Create a test image of exactly(!) 962 x 2070 px. Save it as .jpg.
  • Place this image in a newly created .muse document, by choosing „File/Place“, selecting this image, and simply clicking with the „loaded“ cursor onto the Muse canvas. The image should be placed at 100 % of the original image size.
  • Now open the „Transform“ panel and check the „W“ and „H“ values of the places image. These values are 951 x 2048 px.
  • Obviously there is a discrepancy between the original and placed size of this image. Why?
    • If you place an image with a pixel size exceeding 2048 px in one dimension (width or height), Muse places this image initially with a size of maximal 2048 px in the larger dimension. Why? Simply to avoid inadvertently placing gigantic images, thus exceeding the load time of your site dramatically. Of course there is a way to tell Muse to use the original pixel size: Select the image frame, open the „Transform“ panel and enter the exact pixel values of your original image, and you are done.

Since my image sizes were so close to the maximum size that muse uses for full quality images i just ended up altering my original images to fit that size
