Hi,

When trying to self host my own font. After downloading from the web open source font, i have 2 files, one is EOT and the other is WOFF.

Is it neccesary to upload both or just one of these is enough ?

Regards

Robin

You don’t need only EOT or WOFF, you need ALL(!) web font files, which are:

  • the correct(!) TrueType/OpenType font for your machine. This font has to be the one, which is delivered with your web font package and which has to be installed on your machine. Attention: A imilar or equally named other font won’t work!
  • the .woff font
  • the .eot font
  • the .svg font isn’t really necessary, because it isn’t supported by many browserts.

Without the correct font family installed correctly on your machine/in Muse, self hosted web fonts won’t work!

To cover all devices and browsers, including older mobile phones, you should have a font kit with EOT, TTF, SVG and WOFF + web-safe font-family fallbacks just in case.

Increasingly, more web designers are using Adobe Fonts (formerly Typekit) or Google web fonts instead of hosting their own.
