PNG is a pixel format. Therefore PNGs are not resolution independent.

If you want graphics, which are scaleable without getting blurry, use the vector format SVG.

SVGs normally are used for graphics, PNG for pixel content with (semi)transparent areas (which JPG doesn’t support).
