Why are some pages still not updated after uploading to FTP Host?

Hey all,

I have a website, astridmartirossian.com is the link.

Now I have changed several things in Muse and whenever I preview my pages in the browser, everything seems fine. After uploading, the home page is also correct when I press "View site" right after uploading. However, when I visit the website later on by typing in the address manually, it still shows the old homepage!
Also there are some seemingly random pages that are not updated, but there is no warning for this so I have no idea why this is happening. Most pages are fine though and as far as I'm concerned there is nothing that makes the non-updated pages distinguishable, so I'm really clueless.

Could this be a caching problem? But then again, it feels so random...

If anyone happens to come across this thread: would you please visit my site and send me a screenshot of the home page? Just so I can rule out the possibility that only my laptop is showing the old pages.

Please help!

I think, the problem is as simple as can be!

In your last post, you told us this address "file:///Users/roulasorour/Desktop/tml/index.html"

This is a link to your own computer!

I bet, you are simply „publishing“ your site to your own machine, and all looks well. If you now go to your „real“ url in the web, the content is still the old one. Why? Because you didn’t publish it to your hosting server!

Please try this:

  • Open your site in Muse,
  • Go to the „Publish“ menu top right to Muse’s application window and open it. Now look at this screenshot:

Screen.jpg

In this case, the site isn’t published to your server but to a folder on your machine. Am I right?

Try to clear browser cache and reload your site.

You could also try another browser which you normally do not use.

Does this help?

Best Regards,

Uwe

Hey piixy,

Can you please share your site link with us.

Looks like this issue can be dealt with clearing the old browser cache.

Regards,

Ankush

Tks Ankush! Not quite sure its a roulasorour.com/paintings.html

IT was working fine till I decided to add an addthis toolbar which messed up layout on some pages. I fixed everything but couldn’t update this one page.

Many thanks again!

Ok, I see, however, what exactly were you intending to do in this layout?

I see that the thumbnails are linked to slideshows on other pages.

Thanks,

Ankush

Did you clear the browser cache? I had the same "issue" yesterday with a client. We were both happy, that I saw the changes and finally the client, too.

Uwe

Not the history only but the browser cache as well.

History means nothing in this case.

Not the „history“, the „cache" has to be cleared.

In Safari go to menu „Safari/Preferences/Advanced"

Check the option „Show Developer menu“ (Or something like that; I am on a German system.)

Now open the added menu „Developer“ and choose „Clear Cache“.

I had one installed for desktop and it was fine .

Don‘t think, this should make a difference.

What I miss:

Could you tell us precisely, what should be shown, when we follow the link astridmartirossian.com on which device?

You only asked us, to tell what we see, but not, what is correct.

Could you give us additionally a precise description, what to do, what goes wrong, and what should happen instead?
