Photoshop version: 23.0.0 (2022 Beta)
OS: macOS Version 11.6

Steps to reproduce:

1) Create the text "fire AVA" in a new document.
2) Select the text, then select one of the faces of the system Hoefler Text font, which includes only AAT tables.

Expected result: The Character panel should be able to disable the "fi" ligature, and the "AV" and "VA" kerning pairs should work.

Actual result: The UI element in the Character panel for disabling the "fi" ligature is greyed out, as are all other UI elements that correspond to features, some of which are mapped to equivalent AAT features. The kerning pairs work, and changing the kerning setting from "Metrics" (default) to 0 (zero) disables kerning.

Beautifully written bug report Dr Ken. Thank you!

Am able to see what you're seeing, as well as in PS 22.5.1, and will ask someone from our engineering team to take a look.

Back here with more info when I have it!

Regards,

Pete
