P: Lightroom Classic>Edit in PS: Long Delay+Erroneous Error Message opening Ps Beta 2024 25.0

I just recently updated Photoshop Beta to 2024 v25.0 on my Windows 11 machine.

Now when I try to open photos from LR 12.4 using the "edit in...", it hangs up for a time and then comes up saying "The file could not be edited because Adobe Photoshop 2024 could not be launched."

When I hit "Ok" it then opens the file in Photoshop 2024.

This happens with every file, even if Photoshop 2024 is already up and running at the time.

This does not happen with 2023 v24.7.

Greetings all,

Lightroom Classic 12.5 released this evening.  If used in conjunction with PS Beta 25.0 or later, this erroneous error message plus long open wait time should be mitigated. Please install LrC 12.5 and make certain that your Beta is up to date.

If you do not see the update in your Creative Cloud Application, you can refresh it by hitting [Ctrl/Cmd]+[Alt/Opt]+[ R ].

Note: It may take up to 24 hours for your update to be available in your Creative Cloud app.

Has anyone else noticed that Lightroom Classic no longer sends photos to photoshop Beta? works fine in regular PS however want to use Generative Fill on my images so it's not a pain to have to export as TIFFS then manually import them into PS Beta

I have exactly the same problem.
If I wait at least 2 minutes sometimes the file is open in PS. Doesn't matter if it is PS 2024 beta or PS 2023 opened

I tried to uninstall LRC and reinstall it (I also removed my preferences) but the problem remain

Hello there, is there someone who can help me with this specific "bug" ?

I usually open trough lightroom photo in photoshop where I make edits, save it and come back to LR. Today I go with the same way but I see only possible way to "Open in Photoshop 2024" ?? If I choose this option It does nothing "LR is unable to open file for edit" or "Photoshop 2024 could not be launched..". Just btw I don't know there is PS 2024, I still have 2023 and Beta ... but anyway after that error messeage it open the file in beta... but it takes prettz long time and zou can't rly see if is processing to opening photo or not..

Any idea what's going on??

Thanks in advance.

If i press in Lightroom Classic cmd + E it does not export Photo to Photoshop 25 Beta. Lightroom says:

"The file could not be edited because Adobe Photoshop (Beta) could not be launched."

Photoshop 25 is launched or not does not help. Export to normal Photoshop 24.7 works fine.

System: Macbook M1 Max, 64gb, MacOS 12.6.8, external QHD Display.

it appers that the issue is with PS 25 beta. I successfully uninstalled it and went back one rev to the stabel 24.7 beta. All's well now.

Question:

Creative Cloud continues to say that there's an update for the beta, which is the 25.0 beta which is causing the problems. How would one know when a bug fix is actually released since the update notice is for the buggy beta 25.0?

After updating Photoshop Beta from 24.7 to 25.0, photos from LR Classic 12.4 do not open when using 'Photo > Edit in > Photoshop 2024.' (Note: the name of Photoshop became "Photoshop 2024.") The Photoshop home screen opens, but the file does not appear. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling both LR Classic 12.4 and Photoshop Beta 25.0 several times, but it hasn't solved the issue. Please help!

Hi this is surely the same issue discussed here. So just downgrade your beta to 24.7 for now and wait with updating back again until the issue is fixed. From what I have seen in the orignal thread linked above it seems all platforms are affected by this.

An image in Lightroom Classic (release 12.4) selected to be edited in Photoshop Beta (release 25.0) will hang up until the following error message appears in Lightroom approximately 1 minute later: "The file could not be edited because Adobe Photoshop (Beta) could not be launched."  After acknowledging the error message, the image appears in Lightroom as a Tiff file and it opens in Photoshop. Both applications were working fine before updating Lightroom Classic and Photoshop Beta to the latest version.

The computer being used is the Apple M1 Ultra with Operating System Ventura 13.4.1

Thank you for your post. My Lightroom is FINALLY opening images in Photoshop Beta properly now. I had to Uninstall version 25.0 of Photoshop Beta and reinstall the version just prior which was working fine. Version 24.7 of Photoshop Beta works well. DON'T UPDATE TO VERSION 25.0 until Adobe fixes the bugs.

Photoshop Beta v. 25.0.0

Lightroom Classic 12.4

Mac OS 13.5

NOTE: I have deleted and re-installed both versions of Photoshop and Lightroom as previously suggested (more than once).

Edit in Photoshop (Beta) not working. App opens but nothing happens.

Quitting Photoshop Beta results in this error in LR:

"File could not be edited because Adobe Photoshop Beta could not be launched."

Incorrect; it launches but nothing happens even after waiting about one minute.

However, if I click on OK in the error dialog box, Photoshop Beta launches with the targeted file.   A workraround I guess.

FWIW, I also get a persistent message when quitting LR: 2 photos are still syncing with Lightroom.

With the most recent update of Photoshop 25 beta, there is an error happening when attempting to open a photo from Lightroom Classic using the "edit in Photoshop" command.  Two different windows open saying the photo could not be edited because Photoshop could not be launched (this has not happened before with previous versions of the Beta).  Once the error windows are cleared, the photo DOES open as it is supposed to.

Was this already resolved? Had the same issue so my workaround was to go back to Lightroom Version 12.2.1

It's not a LRC problem. It's a problem with PS 25.0 beta. If you uninstall that and reinstall 24.7 beta, you'll be fine.

Mac M1 - I know this was an issue for some on the last Beta but it has hit me on the latest release.

Photosho Beta 25.0.0

Mac M1

Lightroom Classic 12.4

Edit an DNG as Tiff from Lightroom, get occasional message asying the image couldn't be opened, most of the time it just doesn't open the image without prompts. Wors, if you try repeatedly lightroom does generare tiff files anyway and then you just are stuck with a Tiff version of the DNG without edits.

I am also having this exact problem with Lightroom 12.4 and Photoshop Beta 25.0.0. It started when I updated both Photoshop and Photoshop Beta to the current versions a few days ago. I'd like to add one additional bit of information. I tried switching back to the regular Photoshop, and the same thing happens, so this problem is not specific to the Beta version. It would be great to have a fix for this as soon as possible. It makes editing in Photoshop extremely tedious.

hi ! You can open images by using the export fonction of lightroom, but it is still an issue as it is the ONLY way to open an image from lr to Ps it is still not possible for me to open it as layers or anything els... if saved after processed, the image will be stored in lightroom but before the prepocessed image...it used to be stored after. I hope it will help, and  Adobe will find a way to correct thisCapture d’écran light 2023-07-31 051841.jpg
