P: Lightroom Classic>Edit in PS: Long Delay+Erroneous Error Message opening Ps Beta 2024 25.0

I just recently updated Photoshop Beta to 2024 v25.0 on my Windows 11 machine.

Now when I try to open photos from LR 12.4 using the "edit in...", it hangs up for a time and then comes up saying "The file could not be edited because Adobe Photoshop 2024 could not be launched."

When I hit "Ok" it then opens the file in Photoshop 2024.

This happens with every file, even if Photoshop 2024 is already up and running at the time.

This does not happen with 2023 v24.7.

Greetings all,

Lightroom Classic 12.5 released this evening.  If used in conjunction with PS Beta 25.0 or later, this erroneous error message plus long open wait time should be mitigated. Please install LrC 12.5 and make certain that your Beta is up to date.

If you do not see the update in your Creative Cloud Application, you can refresh it by hitting [Ctrl/Cmd]+[Alt/Opt]+[ R ].

Note: It may take up to 24 hours for your update to be available in your Creative Cloud app.

In der Creative Cloud kann man bei den (Beta) Applikationen auf die drei Punkte. Da gibt es dann die Möglichkeit eine ältere Version zu installieren.

Since updating PhotoShop version 24.7.0 and Lightroom Classic 12.4, I can no longer edit a photo using the Photoshop external editor from Lightroom. Photoshop opens but the photo does not appear. However it worked fine before and it still works with other external editors. My photos are on a cloud and my lightroom catalog on my local drive. I'm using a mac mini with M2 processor.

I have experienced the same problem working with Windows. My photos and catalog are both stored locally on differed SSDs. I get pop-up messages that PS can't open and then that LR can't prepare the file. But after doing this several times they do finally open. Files open just fine in On1 and other external editors.

I have the same problem on a recent model MAC with all the latest upgrades.  I can't get the lightroom photo to open at all in Photoshop Beta. All other "Plug ins" work fine.

Is there a reason to move this? It's a reported problem with multiple version of PS and multiple versions of LR Classic, so far, all since about a week ago after the CC app received some minor library updates, coincidentally.

When I want to work on an LRc image in Photoshop via "Edit in", I note that it now states: Edit in> Edit in Photoshop 2024 rateher than 2023. It will open Photoshop Beta but NOT transfer the image to Photoshop.

Request a solution ASAP!

Merci

when in Lightroom Classic 12.4 and selecting to "open as layers in Photoshop" it usually opens PS Beta , but now it wont open with a message in LRC "The files could not be edited because Adobe Photoshop (Beta) could not be launched.

it will work fine with PS version 24.7.0

all apps are up to date.

I did it several times, I've closed PS et re-opened it, I've  rebooted the system. Always the same. No Pop-up windows with error message ; only the PS screen witout the picture I want to modify. Surely a bug with the new PS version

😞

Hi everyone,

I recently had a problem that came up for no reason.

When I want to open a raw from lightroom in photoshop, photoshop BETA opens but nothing happens. After 30 seconds I have an error message on lightroom then by validating it, the file ends up opening on photoshop...

So I'm wasting a lot of time.

The error message on lightroom is:

The file could not be edited because Adobe Photoshop could not be launched

I'm on MAC OS Ventura 13.4.1

Thank you very much for your help

Ok, do you know how we can install the previous version from BETA? It didn't happen to me a few days ago.

Same problem here on Mac. The update to day did not solve the problem. An already worked on photo and saved as PSD in Lightroom only opens in Photoshop when you choose "Edit original". Not when you choose Edit a copy... or a raw file.

Me too. Its very frustrating to put it mildly. For example, I try to export a file to photoshop to put a border on it. The file does not open in Photoshop. If I them export the same file to NIK, it puts the border on that I want and it returns it to Lightroom. Lightroom then puts up a string of messages saying it could not open my original file. When I close the error messages, the NIK file is deleted and the file opens in Photoshop!!

When executing cmd+3, or open-in, it lauches Photoshop but does not transer or open the files. I now have to go to find in finder and drag them into PS to edit, then save them in the orginal folder, I, then have to syncronize that folder with LrC. It's a cumbersom workflow. Any ideas?

Same identicle issue here. Bad part is it was working ok after the initial install of PS (Beta) but has now stopped. I can't find an answer anywhere.
