P: Lightroom Classic>Edit in PS: Long Delay+Erroneous Error Message opening Ps Beta 2024 25.0

I just recently updated Photoshop Beta to 2024 v25.0 on my Windows 11 machine.

Now when I try to open photos from LR 12.4 using the "edit in...", it hangs up for a time and then comes up saying "The file could not be edited because Adobe Photoshop 2024 could not be launched."

When I hit "Ok" it then opens the file in Photoshop 2024.

This happens with every file, even if Photoshop 2024 is already up and running at the time.

This does not happen with 2023 v24.7.

Greetings all,

Lightroom Classic 12.5 released this evening.  If used in conjunction with PS Beta 25.0 or later, this erroneous error message plus long open wait time should be mitigated. Please install LrC 12.5 and make certain that your Beta is up to date.

If you do not see the update in your Creative Cloud Application, you can refresh it by hitting [Ctrl/Cmd]+[Alt/Opt]+[ R ].

Note: It may take up to 24 hours for your update to be available in your Creative Cloud app.

Last week I updated to Lightroom Classic V12.4. I also updated to the latest Photoshop Beta version.

Since doing these updates I can no longer open my photos from Lightroom directly in Photoshop. I am running these programs on a HP laptop with Windows 11. I previously had no issue with either application.

Since my photos will no longer open in Photoshop from Ligthroom I've lost the ability to close the file in Photoshop and have it reopen in Lightroom.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Lightroom Classic and this did nothing to solve the issue.

In my preferences in Lightroom Classic it only gives me the choice of opening photos in Photoshop 2023 or Photoshop 2024, no mention of Photoshop Beta. However, I found that selecting the Photoshop 2024 option, this is the one that opens Photoshop Beta.

When I select a photo or group of phots to open in Photoshop it starts to open the photos but then stops and does nothing else.

This issue needs to be corrected as soon as possible.

I have a problem with LGT release 12.4 ( imac 21 M1)
from lightroom I try to edit in photoshop, before it opened photoshop with the photo to edit, now it opens photoshop but not the photo to edit. what has changed? what should I do ?
before it interacted perfectly and when the work was completed it imported the modified photo as a Tiff copy (preferences) in the LGT catalog

This is a reply to Daniel Cilia.  Thanks for the tip and it's very interesting but it does not address my original note that started this humungus thread.  Simply, on a Windows machine, once you install PS Beta, it takes over the "edit in Photoshop" and will not allow one to list both versions of PS in the external editing preferences.  That's all I was looking for and all these other issues are, well, other issues!  It seems with Mac this does not happen but it does with Windows so if anybody has a fix for this, and this only, problem, I'll keep wading through all the other posts hoping to see it.

Yes it does happen on a Mac, exactly in hte same way you describe.
Terry White just shows a way around to continue using the last Photoshop versions using the Lightroom edits without having to wait for ages for the file to open up in Photoshop.

Daniel, must be another bug because a Colin Smith youtube video using Mac showed him able to switch between Beta and "regular" PS in external editing.  So he has a machine where it works and most other folks it seems do not.  But that's beta!  Thanks.

Hier muss dringend nen BUG-Fix her. Muss 200 Fotos mit PS bearbeiten, Zeitdruck   gerne auch Tel. 0049015158765662. Deutsch und Englisch fehlen mir vermutlich einige Vocabeln bzgl Adobe, Conversation fließend. VG Günther Pfalzgarf

Terry White has a workaround that does work.

https://www.youtube.com/live/9zhpDd-reVg?feature=share

When you have finished your lightroom edits the metadata must be saved first so lightroom edits are preserved (ctrl s) Open the version of photoshop you want to edit the file in. Using windows explorer drag the file (with its xmp file if one is present) onto photoshop. After your edits in photoshop are finished and you save the file you will need to synchronize that folder in lightroom for the photo to appear. Lots of extra work, but it does work
