P: Photoshop Beta & v26.1 on Windows - Launch Error: dxcore.dll

Explorer ,
Nov 05, 2024 Nov 05, 2024

Copied

Today after the update I encountered that my Photoshop won't open due to this error: “(Photoshop beta.exe) Failed to continue code execution because the system did not detect dxcore.dll. To fix this error, try reinstalling the application.”
---

I have reinstalled several times already, but it didn't help me in any way. I also searched for solutions, but found nothing useful 😞
Since I urgently need the program for work, I wanted to install at least the previous version, but from what I understand, it is not possible to do so
---

Does anyone know how to fix it or how to install the previous version?

@Híp  @mazin3

I've merged your posts with the existing thread on this issue and amended the title to reflect that it is happening in the release version as well as the beta.

DLL.JPGHello, I have a problem version 26.2 Photoshop and Photoshop Beta are not working. Only with this version is problem how I can downlad previos version? with previos vershion all was good. This problem only with Photoshop another Illustrator and Lightroom working good so any problem with Windows. This is really pity that you removed previous version that people can choose which is more comfortable to work with(in case like this that any chances download previous normal version and 26.2 is not working from Friday) and last version not working same for Mac i tryed both. I'm waiting for solution

Hi the suggestion to install an older option is not available on my Creative Cloud. I would but I only have the option to uninstall/add-ons, can you make the other versions accessible? I dont have auto update even turned on when this started.

Photoshop 26.1 wont launch, gets dxcore.dll error. Was trying to rollback so my people can work.

Creative Cloud Desktop version 5.5.0.617

Running on Server 2019 DC 64bit (10.0.17763) as it has been for several years now.

This happened with Illustrator about 3 months ago and we had to keep rolling back versions until an update pushed that worked. My intent was to roll back the version of Photoshop, but that is not an option on current Create cloud version. The only 3 dot menu options are Add-ons and Uninstall.

Hi @Keith25795052h65t,

Thank you for reaching out, and I’m sorry to hear about the difficulties you’re facing.

Regarding the issue where you cannot access older versions of the apps, our internal teams have confirmed that this is because your Creative Cloud app is not up to date. As you mentioned, you're unable to update due to system limitations. For further details, please review Adobe's Enterprise Support Policy here: CC Support Policy.

For the DLL error issue, I am moving your thread to a different community that specializes in addressing such technical problems. They’ll be able to provide more tailored assistance.

Thank you for your patience, and please let us know if there’s anything else we can help with.

Regards,
^AN

@KeithB_FL , did you recently install a Windows update to that system? If you did, could you roll them back and see if the problem goes away?

Does this article work for you, or are you deployed with your enterprise policies?

++++WORKAROUND++++

We recoveded the previous working version before 26.1 from our backups. We actually recovered version 2024. For us we use Windows, so it is in the Program Files folder, recovered that back to our systems. Created a new shortcut on the desktop to that folder and voila we are back up and running. For Mac users, I presume TimeMachine backups would have these older versions there. And suspect that will work as well!

Finally back up and running on v2024. What a gong show. Our business runs on Photoshop and this has caused lost profits and delayed deliveries of projects. Very bad on Adobe for another poor release cycle.

I have Photoshop through a University licence of the Creative Cloud. I accepted updates to the newest Photoshop version and now it does not work. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it multiple times and am still unable to get it to work. I do not have other versions of Photoshop available through the Creative Cloud Desktop interface.

"Photoshop system error the code execution cannot proceed because dxcore.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix the problem." > OK

"The code execution cannot proceed because msvcp140_atomic_wait.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem." > OK

Reinstallation multiple times, including restarting my computer did not solve the issue. Any advise is appreciated.

Hello, I have the same problem, photoshop updated yesterday and won't open. In Creative Cloud there is no option to install the old version, only uninstall and install version 26.1.

The last Win updates were installed Sept 13.  Photoshop worked until Fthis past Friday, rolling back updates won't be helpful. The second article does not work. There are no previous versions showing. The only options given are Unisntall or Add-ons. Where can I find an offline installer for 2024 so my people can actually work? Production is 100% down.

Hi everyone. We have a fix for this issue that should be in the next Ps beta release soon. We will update the thread once it is live and will monitor this thread to make sure it worked for everyone.

We appreciate your patience as this has been difficult since we are unable to reproduce the error.
