P: program error (558e76.312): Stamp Visible

Cmd+Opt+Shift+E (Stamp Visible / Merge Visible) fails with program error (558e76.312).

Additionally, dragging assets from Libraries into the canvas also fails with the same error.

This worked previously and still works in regular Photoshop (non-Beta).

Occurs even when:
- All layers are rasterized
- No Smart Objects present
- No Generative layers
- No Adjustment layers
- GPU enabled or disabled

This breaks core professional workflows using Clone Stamp, Healing, Liquify, and Libraries.
This appears to be a regression introduced in the latest Photoshop Beta update.

I frequently encounter an error when using the Merge Visible Layers (Stamp Visible) command.
Exact error message:Unable to complete the Merge Visible Layers command due to a program error (558e76.312)
 
Shortcut used:
CMD + ALT + SHIFT + E
 
Configuration:
Photoshop Beta 27.3.0
macOS 26.2
 
The issue does not occur every time but happens quite often, especially on large files with many layers.
It did not occur in previous versions.

I have an image opened in photoshop 
i drop another image into this document on top ( making a new layer )  
all good.. 

i drop another image into this same document making a 2nd new layer  ( 3 total including background ) 

the newest layer image will not drop, it instatnly dissappears

Which method are you using to "drop" another image into the current document?

When you look in your layers panel, is the third layer at the top of the panel? If not, drag it to the top. If you're not sure then show a screenshot of your layers panel.

What are your versions of Photoshop Beta and OS?

Without seeing a screenshot, we can only guess.

Im pretty sure its an update bug as i use PS Beta and it started right after I updated. 

so if i have an open document, i can drag and drop another image into it.  which automatically is created in a new layer

but if i but if i try drag and drop a second image it wont work. 

Its working fine in normal PS so its no biggie but as they just updated the Beta version i thought id flag it as its not a minor flaw.

Are you dragging from Windows File Explorer, Adobe Bridge, or from another Photoshop document? 

Again what do you see in your Layers panel? Show us a screenshot, please.

I'm getting this error as well in the Beta version.  I am on a Windows desktop.  Also sky replacement is not available.  All of these things work just fine in regular Photoshop.  I rolled back to the previous version (27.2) and that Beta works fine as well.

When pasting anything from Illustrator to Photoshop, the "paste" command always prompts that it cannot be completed due to a program error (558e76.312).

Lorsque je souhaite glisser une image du Finder dans un PSD déjà ouvert, j'ai ce message d'erreur qui m'empêche d'importer l'image. Erreur non présente dans la version précédente.

Impossible d'exécuter la commande Fusionner les calques visibles en raison d’une erreur du programme (558e76.312).
