P: PS 26.9 CMD shortcuts give duplicate results

Community Beginner ,
Jul 03, 2025 Jul 03, 2025

Photoshop Beta version 26.9 on MacOS 15.5

- Pressing Cmd + [ or Cmd + ] moves layers **two steps** instead of one.
- Cmd + J creates **two new layers**, not one.
- Issue persists after reinstalling and resetting preferences.
- Not caused by actions/scripts/custom shortcuts.

- Issue is only on Beta Version, not in normal version.

Hi Trevor,

I reset Photoshop Beta preferences, but everything is still the same. For example, this is what I get after doing Command+J. Very annoying.prueba.jpg

It seems like the keyboard commands get doubled up in this version. When I paste an item, two copies get pasted - very irritating.

Merci d'avance.

Cordialement.

After updating the Beta App a couple of days ago i've been having problems using the "Layer Via Copy' shortcut command (Command+J), every time I use it I get to layer copies, I checked my keyboard and made changes to the repeat key sensitivity and did not make any difference, does anybody else have this problem, any suggestions? I am using a IMac M1 2021.

I agree, very annoying, I lost one of the layers I had edited trying to get rid of the duuplicates, it needs to be fixed. I tried the same command PS regular version and no problem.

Hi, thanks for reaching out! I would need some more info to help figure this out because I'm not seeing this behavior on my Mac.

Please go to the Help menu in Photoshop, then System Info, and copy the text. You can share the info with us by either pasting it as a reply here or in a text file and sharing the file with us. It would also be helpful if you could share a screen recording or a screenshot.

Meanwhile, you can try to reset the preferences of Photoshop using the steps mentioned here: https://adobe.ly/3TkZhL3

Please backup your settings prior to resetting the preferences. You can check: https://adobe.ly/4lBXLA5

Thanks,
Nikunj

Hi. I'm having the same issue but with the Zoom tool. When I type cmd+ or cmd- it zooms in or out two steps instead of one.

@CShubert

Hi, I've been seeing a lot of people posting about this issue today so I wanted to add my two cents to let Adobe see how widespread it is.

I updated to Photoshop Beta 26.9.0 today, and no matter what the function, when I type Cmd+ any key, it will perform it twice. For example, zooming in or out two steps at a time, applying the same filter twice in a row, etc...
I'm using an iMac running OS 15.5

Hoping for a fix soon.

Thanks!

Dustin

Same here. Everything using cmd+ does two steps. If I have more than one file open cmd w closes 2. Cmd z takes 2 steps etc.

The problem only exists on beta version which is understandable. The official release version does not have the problem.

Hello,
I've been having this weird error after the last update on PS Beta. Whenever I try to use a shortcut using "command" such as CMD+T or even to zoom in, app brought me an error message. I have 2 seperate devices and it's happening on both, and both are Mac. I'm attaching an ss. Anyone has any ideas?

It's in Turkish but it's saying "Your request couldn't be completed due to a program error"
