P: Generated images violate user guidelines

So as you can see, it's a PG-13 relatively inoffensive image of a woman in a bunny outfit. The top worked fine, and I was able to complete the top ear, which is cool. When I tried to extend the bottom with generative fill, though, I got this warning. They're just a pair of legs wearing stockings, and I wanted to extend it.

It feels like a false flag - though I could be wrong? I find myself thinking it would do the same for women in swimsuits.

Figured I'd share here.

Dear Community,

On November 7th, 2023, the Firefly for Photoshop service was updated and improved for this issue. You should encounter fewer guideline errors when working on or near skin-tone areas that do not violate the community guidelines.

While the improvement is a big step in the right direction, we are continuing to explore new ways to minimize false-positives. Please continue to give us feedback on this new forum thread and also report false violation errors in the application.
Thank you

I am constantly struggling with the "violate user guidelines" warning. It seems like its a random hit/miss thing.  The warning is too vague. The warning should give more information to say how the guidelines were violated

I tried replacing shoes on a model.  When I enter "Slingbacks" I get the warning every time. If I enter "High heels" I get a warning most of the time.  If I enter "Stiletto" It usually works. Very strange

Well remember...it's a beta. While it has happened on random objects at times, it seems to happen most often when skin is involved (hiding mangled hands or feet, for example, or covering up an arm. It's not US doing the guideline violations...it's the bot tied to very extreme constraints. And it's difficult to report the issue, since the violating images aren't shown to us, in order to give the result a thumbs up/down/report or describe the issue.

Doesn’t the Beta version have a button specifically for giving feedback about Beta Features?

@tomf35092362 @c.pfaffenbichler

I've moved your post and its reply to the Photoshop Beta forum. I also edited your subject for clarity.

As @c.pfaffenbichler says, if you disagree with the guidelines, then report it and it will be reviewed.

I was editing an older photo and used generative fill. The mask removed part of the models hair. I used generative fill to replace the missing hair. The action got flagged as violating terms of agreement. I don't want to get dinged for something that was harmless. Does Adobe track my "violations"?

In my opinion, the guidelines for generative fill are too strict, but can also easily be abused. So I feel for Adobe on this one.

I am in the early stages of testing, but here is what I have found out.

Here is the scenario: I was trying to create a mermaid image and by asking for a bra I get told it cannot be done due to violation, however, asking it for a mermaid tail actually created images in underwear and no fish tail.

If I have an image and I ask the tool to change the bra colour, it will tell me this violates guidelines. I personally disagree that a bra is in itself pornographic. However, you can ask it to change the top to a bralette and it will generate bra's not bralettes. This allows it to be exploited if it is being strict for a reason and I do understand it can be used in a pornographic setting, which is why I emphasise with Adobe here.

I respect Adobe are in a horrible position here as reducing how strict terms like "bra" are, can easily create room for abuse, but by restricting it you're ruining its ability to be used in harmless creative images.

I thought this could be an interesting controversial discussion topic on what can be done and if you agree the guidelines are too strict.

Getting an error when trying to erase a region on a layer. Trying to remove a small section of the image but getting Guidline Violation warning message. This must be a bug, no?

I'm messing around with generative fill, and I'm getting warnings about violating guidelines when doing things that are clearly not guidline-violating. For example, when I select the nose on a portrait and try to use generative fill to create alternative noses, I am warned about violating guidlines and not given any images.

It seems that the sensitivity of these warnings is excessively high.

using the Generative fill on newborn photos to fill the background or smth is useless .. it always gives  "the generated images were removed (violate user guidelines)"
one way to do it is to cover the baby's body first with a brush .. then use generative fill.

I have the same problem, half the images I try give me this warning.

Sometimes I can make some changes, then the warning pops up, and it won't let me go any further.

It's all a bit hit-and-miss for me, when it works it is either brilliant or hideous.

The hideous part is mainly hands and feet.

Any suggestion that a bra could be considered pornographic is ludicrous.....

What is this world coming to...or is that cuming to?😊

I am glad I am not the only one having these issues with the guideline errors, someting as as simple as removing a part of a person can cause it to crop up, I have flattened the image and saved it to reopen the file doing the same action as caused the guideline popup with no issues doing the same thing as before.

I was working on my cat's nose, and the same thing!  I was removing a cable in the way, and after 3 or 4 attempts to better it, I got the warning too.

I've read the guidelines and user information and am familiar with what this entails and consists of. While using generative fill, the "Guidelines" box will pop up during reasonable and non-violating prompts. Even on something simple, like matching something in my original image to fill the rest of the space, the guidelines box pops up. I would be able to currently accomplish this task with PS, anyway. I'm concerned that this constantly popping up indicates a bug or glitch of some sort. I understand the necessity in the case of ill-advised material or abuse of the program, but it shouldn't pop up during such innocent prompts & phrase/words.

So you are saying girls wearing bikinis on the beach is irresponsible?

I think swimwear designers (who may well use Photoshop} would think otherwise.

I personally can't see why. I live near the beach. So Ippl in Bikinis , and unfortunaly dog poo, all the time. It's quite common for my photos to have bikini clad ppl in. But t hen the AI is not always the best. I've had violation warnings for thngs that the AI produced .

I made a post previously stating the guidelines are potentially too strict, but now I am experimenting further I think it is actually a bug.

I got an image from https://www.signatureedits.com/free-raw-photos/ to test as screenshot and it did not allow me to extend due to guidelines. I tried twice and both times it refused.

the generative Fill isn't working when there's some scantily clad person in the scene. Even if I just want to take a stain off the wall, it doesn't work because there's a naked person in the scene. Can you fix that ? I work with artistic nudity...but i need to retouch the ambient...

I am trying to remove a blurred automobile from a picture of a highway.  Note that the picture is my own work, but the version I am experimenting on was retrieved from my own FB account, as I did not have the original on this computer.

When I select the vehicle, but leave the directions blank, the program deletes the generated fill and tells me that the generated fill breaks the guidelines.

If I tell the program to "delete the car" - it works.

I've been having the same issue. I'm scared I'll get in trouble when I'm not actually doing anything wrong.
