About Beta and expectation management in general

Hi,

my post has a few angles notably Adobe's Beta scheme and Adobe's customer service over chat.

I have been in contact with Adobe's customer service over chat in two sessions for nearly two hours in total over the last two days. I wanted to find out how to access Photoshop Beta as there is no Beta tab on my CC Desktop app. It is very hot topic right now due to the new feature Generative Fill which is prominently featured on Adobe's front web page and some videos on Youtube. Of course I wanted to try this out too as I have had a lot of fun with Firefly.

Unfortunately and finally only the fourth or fifth Adobe agent was able to tell me: Trying beta apps is randomized, it is not guaranteed to all the users. This is confirmed through this community post: https://community.adobe.com/t5/enterprise-teams-discussions/beta-apps-not-available-for-adobe-for-en... which though is not reflected on this community post: Solved: Photoshop Beta - Adobe Support Community - 13761926

Which is now correct? I tend to believe the agent, but I am not sure. Now what is my issue with Adobe's customer service? This was not my first, nor second, nor third time I have been passed from agent to agent and another agent, waiting to find someone with a definitive answer. This is no reasonable way to use my or the agents' time and resources - waste of time!

My other issue is how Adobe markets its products without clearly stating that one needs access to ie. Beta and not everybody gets or needs to apply for a service (Firefly) in order to use it. So much time is wasted when trying to figure how to access something and where to find the correct info.

So, unfortunately I do not have a clear proposal on how to fix this - again, not a wise use of my time, but I sure do hope someone starts to see these issues from a customer points of view.

thank you for reading this!

Adding a piece of information to my above post.

On Adobe's web site Adobe Creative Cloud Beta FAQ (link) there is no mentioning of randomised selection of users. Apart from that the page's instruction section How do I install the CC beta apps? does not work for me - only adding to the confusion.

Another very relevant addition to this thread.

I am logged in to my Adobe account on two different computers. One doesn't show the Beta apps tab, but now I noticed on the other machine the Beta apps is shown. How is this possible? Attached screenshots of the CC Desktop app's view: Preferences/ Apps. As you can see, my machine with the Beta apps even has Advanced options to to tweak. Randomisation apparently affects installed CC Desktop apps and not the account used.

Hi @Sasa at UH are you in a managed environment like Enterprise, Education or Teams?

If so, your beta apps access is managed by your plan admin. They have to allow access via the Adobe Admin console.

Hi Kevin,

thanks for taking your time to answering my thread. I have the Enterprise plan.

There are still the question of randomisation or not and why on one mac I have Beta apps and on the other I do not while hbeing signed in to the same account. I just do not understand this.
