When I installed Photoshop Beta, it didn't carry over my settings from plain old Photoshop. That would have taken me a considerable amount of time to replicate (unless there is a file with that info that I could have copied over to Beta somewhere. Also, images that I clicked on opened with Beta. I could go to Get Info and change that back to Photoshop for all of the same image type, but it reverted to Beta after a few days for some reason. I had to remove Beta from my computer.
