Try generative expand on a very contrasty B&W photo and it will generate convincing backgrounds except purple in hue, difficult to fix in post for my smooth brain. Should be able to colour match a single colour.

Does this happen with a specific type of image with particular elements? Do you notice a pattern? Please update to the latest build of Photoshop (beta) from the Creative Cloud & check if the issue exists.
Include a screen recording or series of screenshots, including the Layers & other pertinent panels.
