Hi Agathepict,

Thanks for raising the concern. I have a couple of clarifying questions that will help us resolve the issue better.

1. Is the issue that gradient preset view in the toolbar is black-transparent and the fg/bg pair in the toolbar is white-black?

2. Is there any active gradient widget in any of the floating windows? After a gradient widget is drawn, the fg/bg pair in the toolbar don't affect the color of the gradient. You have to change the color by double clicking on the gradient stops on canvas.

Hello @turkar, I may be having the same or similar problem.

I'm trying to use the Classsic Gradient, in Photoshop Beta. I'm on an Intel iMac, OS 14.6.1. Things work, fine, in Photoshop 2025, just not in Beta, on my iMac.

I have it set to do foreground to transparent. However, it seems to get stuck on either black or white as the gradient foreground. Right now, mine is stuck on black. If I change the foreground color, it's not reflected in the gradient icon in the options bar. Even if I try to change the gradient to something else, like a Photoshop-provided blue preset, it won't change.

Here is a 2 minute video, showing my problem. Can you help? I've deleted my preferences, to no avail. The video shows 26.0, but, the problem is also in 26.1, which is why I reverted. It didn't seem to be a problem until within the past 24 hours, which is why I am scratching my head.

Thanks.

Thanks @alllan for the informative video. This issue will be fixed in the next beta build release that is supposedly scheduled for later this week. CC: @Agathepict.

@Agathepict I've attached a video from the Nov 6th release where it works as expected. Please let us know what version of Ps Beta you are seeing the issue on.

Also, just to be sure, can you please verify by looking at the text name of the gradient that you are using Foreground-to-Transparent and not a custom White-to-Transparent gradient?

- Foreground-to-Transparent will change when foreground color changes

- Any non-foreground / non-background gradient will not change when changing fg/bg colors.

Hello @turkar ,

Sorry i didn't see your answer sooner,

1/the issue is that in the toolbar it is black-transparent , and in fact the fg/bg pair is anything else : other colors, or when fg/transparent is in fact bg/transparent

2/ no floating windows here, but to precise this is the "old gradient tool" i use,  i do not like the new one

thanks a lot !
