In macOs, Camera Raw Filter hangs at launch every now and then, takes Photoshop with

Camera Raw Filter (15.4) on PS Beta (24.7.0) often hangs with a small Progress window at launch (with a progress bar stuck at random position), before touching any of the settings. As the Cancel button and everything else becomes unresponsive, there is no other choice but to force kill PS and lose whatever you did since last save.

I don't think the Progress window is supposed to appear until you are done with Camera Raw Filter settings and click OK on the Camera Raw window. That's what usually happens, and that's when everything is working nice and smooth. For some reason, sometimes, seeminly randomly, the Progress window appears at the launch of Camera Raw, right after you have selected Camera Raw Filter from the Filter menu, and that's when it's game over.

Does not occur in Windows.

Update: seems to occur way less often with later versions, but still happens every now and then, seemingly randomly.

Launch BETA Photoshop While Pressing The Keyboard Shortcut

With Photoshop closed, press and hold Shift+Ctrl+Alt (Win) / Shift+Command+Option (Mac) on your keyboard and then Launch Photoshop the way you normally would.

It may help if we could see your Photoshop System Info. Launch Photoshop, and select Help >System Info...and copy/paste the text in a reply.

Unfortunately problem appears to persist after resetting prefs.

More details that may or may not be relevant:

- I am always applying Camera Raw to Smart Object layer

- The files are rather large (ones that Photoshop initially wants to save as .psb until I clean it up a bit)

Scratch that. It's still happening on 24.7.0 20230622.m.2215 26ae038 x64. Only less often, I think, since it took a couple days to occur for the first time after updating, despite launching Camera Raw Filter multiple times previously for no other purpose than to check if this problem still persists. So far it has not occurred in Windows once, with any version – seems to happen only on macOS.

I think I've launched the Camera Raw Filter some 30 times today and it only hung once so far, so seems like less of a problem now, but evidently still happens every now and then. Don't remember experiencing this in release version, but then again I haven't used Camera Raw Filter all that much until recently (with Beta). I'll get back to reporting about release version sometime in the near future.

I have this problem now, recently switched to Mac because I couldn't work anymore on Windows from the amount of bugs, now I simply cannot finish the project, today and yesterday I could only open CRF twice without it bugging.

I´m getting it from time to time. And it´s so time consuming and causes a lot frustration to remake all lost work. I´v started save all the files before using the Camera Raw plug, that's time consuming but I get to keep my work.

We need a solution to this 😐
