Move tool within artboard to select layer

Whether an intentional change or a bug, please fix it/change it back.  It used to be very simple to select the correct layer instantly by using the move tool and clicking on a shape/image/text within an artboard.  Now however, clicking with the move tool anywhere on an artboard does absolutely nothing, and if I want to edit a part of an image or text, I have to go to the layers window and manually find the correct layer, which is impracticle.  As a result, I've resorted to using the older version of Ps, and for now will only use Beta for Generative Fill.

Hi @Timothy31127921m8f8 could you share a video of what you are seeing, make sure to show your entire workspace.

 

It may help if we could see your Photoshop System Info. Launch Photoshop, and select Help >System Info...and copy/paste the text in a reply.
