Photoshop 27.1 on Windows is frezzing and can't end task!

4 days ago my PS updated to the 27.1 Beta version.  Since then, I am having issues with PS freezing while working on a file.  It automatically go to the home page (not shutting down the file I'm in) and the screen goes askew to the left some and the cursor just spins forever.  The weird thing is that Task Manager cannot even end the task.  I've tried multiple times and just waited.  I end up having to restart the powerful 2 week old BRAND NEW COMPUTER and start over.  Any advice?  This is not happening to me on my MacBook Pro, same version.  It seems I have also lost all of my presets too now.  Might just revert back to the previous version.

Well reverting back did not work.  I have uninstalled the beta (why would auto updates install a beta version that isn't ready yet?  Betas should not fall within auto updates).  I reverted PS back to the last version of 26 - 26.11.2.  But now it's doing the same thing on that version.  WHY?  I used that version with no issues prior to the update to 27.  So now I am dead in the water and cannot even use the Photoshop I am paying for of any version!!!!!!!  My IT guy thinks it put something in my registry to cause this issue.  If that is the case, it may take weeks to clear it out.  Any suggestions from you guys?

Well I guess my issue is not easily fixable since nobody replied...  IT and myself have tried everthing we know to do:

  • uninstalled PS and then reverted back to older versions (PS 25 and it did the same thing mentioned above)
  • then uninstalled every adobe product on my computer
  • IT guy cleaned my registry with a software tool to remove anytingthings Adobe leaves behind (in case that was the issue).  Same thing occurred after installing PS25.
  • I have a brand new computer that is only 3-4 weeks old and now I cannot use Photoshop (haven't tried the other programs I had loaded).

Our only option seems to be that we are going to have to wipe my brand new computer and reinstall everything simply because the auto update feature installed a BETA without my knowledge.  BETA's should be excluded from auto updates!
