Photoshop Beta hangs up every time.

Everytime I try to import multiple photos it gets hung up with the error message "creating smart object" or something to that effect. I have turned off the auto smart object option under preferences.  I'm using a MacMini, Apple M2 Chip, 16 gigs of memory, Ventura 13.5.2.  Bout ready to ditch Beta, can't get anything done.

Hi @hollihobbi curious if you see the same issue in Ps release version 25.0? What is the workflow you are using when you see this error, what steps are you doing?

I have not had this issue before.  They have imported as smart objects with no problem.  I'm just placing (drag and drop) a few photos into a new document through camera raw.

I  experimented with editing it in camera raw.  If left unedited, they all imported fine.  If any editing is done, it will hang up after a few photos, sometimes on the second one. I can usually get one without it hanging.   I'm going through a lot of photos so the quick editing in Camera Raw is a huge time saver.

When the error occurs the only option is to force quit the process under activity monitor.  None of the usual quit short cuts or cancel process work.  I have left it sitting for quite some time just to make sure it wouldn't correct itself.

Try resetting Prefs for the Beta:

With Photoshop closed, press and hold Shift+Ctrl+Alt (Win) / Shift+Command+Option (Mac) on your keyboard and then Launch Photoshop the way you normally would.

Yes, it did happen with the latest PS version.  I have PS 24,  I don't see an option for PS 25.0.

With PS 24, I tried it with photos that had already been edited in Camera raw and those placed fine.  When I started a new batch, requiring new edits, it hung up again at photo #8.
