Using Photoshop 2025. I am a biologist who uses latin names of species in figures. When abbreviating the genus name to the first letter, Photoshop seems to recognize and convert the text to a bullet. I cannot later go back and delete the space, period, and first letter. My current solution is to delete the text box and create a new one, but this is impractical with many text boxes. How do I turn off this feature?

I understand why some people might want this automatic detection feature, but there is no reason why the user is prevented from deleting the list without opening the preferences menu. For comparison, look at how this feature works in Word or Google Docs.

You are far from the first person to have been frustrated by this. It seems reasonable that we'd look to control this in the Properties panel, but I really do think that the default for the Preference setting is that it should be turned off.
