Placing and sizing library items causes canvas lag

In the current build, placing library items as smart objects causes screen lag while moving and resizing them. In this case, I'm using unlicensed placeholder image from Adobe Stock that I've loaded into a library.

Reproduction:

Add Adobe Stock images to a CC Library.

Open a new document (3k x 3k, 8-bit sRGB)

Open the CC Library panel

Drag a stock image to the canvas - it places correctly as a Smart Object

Resize the the SO prior to committing (e.g., before hitting enter/return)

The SO flashes repeatedly while resizing, and sometimes lags up to a few seconds before it will move again.

Hi @The Scott Valentine, sorry to hear this.  It may help if we could see your Photoshop System Info. Launch Photoshop, and select Help >System Info...and copy/paste the text in a reply.   Did this just start or has anything changed in your computer's OS or other apps?

Thank you,

Thanks for the report Scott!

Am not seeing this one on my macOS system with the latest beta install.

  • Anything particular about that stock image? Does it happen with all unlicenced stock images for you?
  • Does restarting Photoshop, or the computer fix this for you?
  • Which macOS are you running?

Sorry to be so late following up on this - I've been traveling for work, and was swamped when I got home.

@Pete.Greenthis happened with any number of EPS-based stock images from Adobe Stock, all of which were added to my library from the website. They were not licensed, since I was trying to decide on comps.

I will ensure I have the current release then run though a variety of images, including licensed and not, EPS and JPG, etc.

Sounds great Scott, let us know how it goes.

Just tried with an Illustrator stock file and didn't have any issues again in my testing.

Crossing fingers this is already resolved in a newer build!

Regards,

PG
