I am a rookie for sure, so please be patient. I've tried to read many answers, but none of led me to a solution.

I want to STOP THE MADNESS of the properties panel from constantly opening after I close it. I edit about 500 images a day and this panel interferes with my actions.

I do not want to see the properties panel at all.

Everything I read said there is an on/off button. Cannot find it.
Or to go to preferences and tell it "never." Cannot find a freaking "Preference" under the photoshop beta headers, and it cannot be found using help.

Someone please help me turn off the properties panel. I will sing your praises!

@daddio09 have you tried going to the Window Menu and hiding the Properties panel?

Just to be clear, are you referring to the Photoshop Properties Panel.

This is the default Essentials workspace. (I have outlined the Properties panel in yellow.)

Are you saying that when you close it, it opens again without your input?

Are you perhaps referring to Adobe Camera RAW (ACR) which looks like this:

The way you've worded your post has me thinking this might fit what you are saying.  This is a relatively new Photoshop behaviour.  Previously, only RAW files would open in ACR.  I could see this being annoying if processing hundreds of JPGs every day.

If you could clarify what you are seeing, then I am sure we can halp you fix it.
