Style / Reference Image-For 'Generate Image' Function - Gets Error Message and Will Not Load

Hi All,

Today, when using the 'Generate Image' Function', the 'Style Image', (formerly called the 'Reference Image'), will not load.

Instead I receive an error message: "Could not Complete your request because of a program error." (see screenshot)

EDIT: I just tried using a style/reference photo from a different source and it works fine. but all the .jpg images from the source I wish to use, will not load. Am adding screenshots of one of the images which will not load, with it's each of its properties. tabs showing. Why these do these images fail to load and not others?

I clicked the 'Learn How to Fix It' link in the error message and followed all the support suggestions listed there. This is the page it sent me to: https://helpx.adobe.com/ca/photoshop/kb/program-error-opening-psd.html

These are the troubleshooting steps I followed:

1) I updated Photoshop Beta

2) I checked my system to see it met minum requirements.

3) I ensured my GPU was Compatible with the 'Help>GPU Compatibility' function

4) All my graphics drivers are up to date - [ I did not reinstall all of them, as it requires you completely uninstall them first, and when I uninstalled the first one, my display was so awry it was diffult to make it functional again...]

5) I attempted oto 'Turn Off GPU Acceleration' but the option to do so was present on the Performance page. so, I elected to check the 'Do Not Use Graphics Processer' box instead.

6) I Manually Removed PSBeta's Settings folder, putting on my Desktop, and fprcing PSBeta to generate fresh new Settings.

7) I updated Windows.

8)I uninstalled all of my Plug-Ins

In between each step above, I retried using a Style/Reference Image, when using Edit>Generate Image, but continued to receive the same error message each time.

I cannot find any others having the same issue or any more support suggestions to try.

So, I simply cannott generate images now.

( And II need to keep up with the demands of my small business with fresh images.)

Can anyone can suggest something further I could try to make 'Generate Image' fully functional?

Hi @Cynthia372629184fz6 do you see the same issue with Ps release version and the same file you want to use as reference image, or is this just in Ps beta?

Can you share a source file for us to test here? Feel free to send a link to shubert@adobe.com if possible.

It may help if we could see your Photoshop beta System Info. Launch Photoshop beta, and select Help >System Info...and copy/paste the text in a reply.

Thank you so much for reply! Since every other picture loads fine, and only a handful from a specific source do not, I'll let this remain a mystery and use other images as style references. It appears it could take too much time to get to the bottom of it. Never heard of this before and will likely not again and am just too busy to go down this trouble-shooting path. Posted here thinking no image would load, so apologize for posing a false alarm. Appreciate your helpful gesture. Cheers 🙂
