edited raw files that have been output to jpegs revert back to original capture version

Hi Everyone,

I have been having an intermittent issue over the years with edited raw files, that have been outputted to jpegs, reverting back to their original state, i.e. the file my client receives looks how the file first looked when I opened it as an unedited raw file.

So I open a raw file through Bridge, into camera raw-ACR, edit for color and brightness, etc. with ACR, and hit done. The file in Bridge now looks like my edited version. I then select all the raw files I want to output to jpegs, usually, I'll open them into camera raw and from there output to jpeg. On my end, these new jpegs appear to have the adjustments I applied to the original raw file. I then Dropbox these files to my clients. I have no idea what software my clients are using to view these files.

So here is the rub. At least half a dozen times, I have discovered that the jpeg they received did not, on their end, have my adjustments. What is weird, one of the weird things, is that this happens to just one file and not the others that I sent them. What they see on their end looks like what I saw when I first opened the unedited raw file, no brightness, color, or cropping changes appear to them. But on my end, when I look at that jpeg file I sent them, it shows my edits.

This has happened very. sporadically, with different versions of PS and different MAC operating systems and even with different laptops I've owned.

I don't understand how this could happen. Is it a PS issue, a Dropbox issue, a MAC issue, or some combination of these.

Hi @tonywoodphoto2 how are you saving/storing your files? Are they saved locally then transferred to Dropbox or are you working directly out of Dropbox synced folders or a server/external? (Wondering if its a read/write issue back to the origin)

Sorry,  I'm not sure if I understand enough to answer your question. I have a Dropbox folder on my laptop computer that syncs the files I put in there to Dropbox. So they are on my laptop and on Dropbox at the same time.
