Is there a way to Permanently Turn Off Extras in Photoshop 2025 running on a Mac?

Photoshop 2025 on the Mac definitely seems to have a serious bug. All off the "fixes" posted here and elsewhere to not permanently work. Show Extras get re-checked every time Photoshop is re-opened. Moreover, in Show Extras Options, both Edit Pins and Mesh get re-checked every time Photoshop is re-opened. Is there a fix? I have an M4 Mac Studio running Sequoia 15.4.1. Any help will be appreciated!

Yes, you can make this change permanent.

The next command under View menu > Extras is "Show". In the Show sub-menu you can uncheck anything you don't want to hide/show with the Extras command.

Jane, Thank you for your reply. However, unfortunately, you did not understand my issue: none of the remedies work. Whenever I start Photoshop, Command-H gets invoked, as do Edit Pins and Mesh in the Show Extras Menu, even though all these settings were unchecked when I quit Photoshop. I suspect there is a deep bug at work, since this problem keeps occuring and re-occuring among many users over the years.

in the Show Extras Menu

By @Barnack7

Hi Barnack,

There is not a command called "Show Extras" in the View menu. Instead, the two commands are "Extras" and "Show". Can you please expand your Show submenu and share a screenshot so we can see what you are saying and better assist?

Sorry, I meant "Show Extras Options." Here is a screenshot:

What is worse, if I press Command-H to turn off Extras, it gets turned back on again while adding layers to the same document, without even quiting Photoshop.

Checking it out on my end, I am seeing some buggy behavior around Show Extras Options. I'll report this to the team.

Can you elaborate on the second part? You definitely shouldn't see your file change when using Cmd+H to Show/Hide Extras. Does it happen with every file? Is it just a blank layer? Can provide exact steps to reproduce on our end? Screen shots/recordings?
