One click Remove Cables and wires doesn't work [Duplicate locked]

I don't know if it is just me, but I cannot use the feature at all. I tried 10+ YouTube tutorials on going around it and read here about how to enable it, but nothing seems to work for me.

Method 1:

I have a picture where I need to remove 1 Wire/Cable. I create a layer over on which I select the wire via the Remove Healing tool, but when I click on One click removal of wires and cables I get the message that I cannot do it on a transparent layer.

So I delete the layer and try to do it on the actual image. Can't even select it.

Method 2:
I create a selection with brush/laso/object selection tool. Select the surrounding of the cable and try using the same Remove healing tool (both on a layer and on the image). I get the same errors as before.

PS setting changes:

I tried changing it in preferences under image processing - Remove tool processing from "faster" to "more stable". No luck

Yes, I have the latest PS update.

Oh yeah, and on top of that, even if I make the image a Smart Object or Dupicate it, I cannot use Content aware fill in the area as well. 🙂

Help please, I'm desparate.

Daniel
