Can't reopen Photoshop pdf files since updating to PS CC 2018. I can reopen old pdf files but when I save them, somehow photoshop can't reopen them 'because of a program error'. Can somebody help?

I'm running on OSX High Sierra

Hi All,

This issue should be resolved in the release of Photoshop that just went live, 19.1. Please open your Creative Cloud desktop app, update Photoshop and try it out!

Thank you,
Hannah

First, try restoring Photoshop's preferences. https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html#restore_preferences

If you're still having trouble, could you post an example PDF file you're having trouble with?

It looks like there's a known issue with certain layered documents saved as PDFs (with Preserve Photoshop Editing Capabilities) cause a program error when opened.opening images that include Photoshop Editing. We'll be releasing an update to address this issue.

Hi Jeffrey. When do you expect the release of the update to address this issue? I've now become aware of that the pdf's that are reopenable lacks the path line and looks like a single image. It's really a problem!

I can't give an exact date but it should be days, not weeks.

Workarounds:
- Don't use a system that has APFS as the start up volume
- Don't use the "preserve edit-ability" option when saving a PDF and be careful to save a PSD version of the document to allow re-edits
