P: Color picker dialog circle not updating while sampling color from image

Hi!
When using the color picker accross an image (to see how the value, saturation and hue transitions), i have to clic several times in order to see the changes. As a matter of fact, you only see the Hue change on the hue slider, just not the saturation and value one which stays static as long as you don't release the mouse clic.
In painter, the change are realtime, without having to spam the clic.

I find this option extremely valuable to see how gradients are functioning. How can i fix this?
thanks in advance

This should work as expected in current versions of Photoshop. Thanks!

Which product are you using?
Which version?
Which OS version?

Exactly what color picker are you using?

Thank you for your reply Chris
I was speaking of the Photoshop CC 64 product, windows 8.1 64 version?

The color picker i speak about is the one popping when you clic for example on the foreground color box.
The numerical values are being displayed in realtime, but the little round target appearing on the big squared color picker does not move in realtime, which is what i would like to have (as in Painter).

OK, so the color picker dialog. The round target should move in realtime as well, and does on my system.

Have you updated your video card drivers from the GPU maker's website?

Yes, i have the latest drivers for my video card (gtx760).

De we speak of the same behaviour?
When i speak about the round target moving in realtime, i mean while i am color picking in my image, not choosing a color in the color picker.

Ah, no, that wasn't clear. Yes, I'm seeing the same behavior when I sample from an image. We'll have to see if we can make the cube slice update in realtime as well (right now I'm not sure if that is a bug or a limitation).

oh that is good news Chris, thank you for your time! Not sure what you mean by the cube slice though ^^.

The update on the part i speak about is kind of critical, as it has 3 many important applications for me (that i observed on many other friends):
1* Pedagogical: You can understand how the link between hue saturation and value works by sliding on certain areas of an image, especially gradients. It is one thing that Painter do exactly as it should (having the color as a wheel instead of a vertical row is more close to the idea that the hue is cyclical).

2* It can reveal damaged areas: Sometimes it is a bit hard to see how an area transitions from dark to say less dark. It happens that a transition is too flat and so it helps you to fix this with the right tools

3* To mix colors: Usually i take an airbrush, i spray 2 colors on each other, and i pick the result inbetween. Being able to see this transition in order to select the right color is very helpful.

The big square part is a slice of the color cube. You decide which slice and colorspace to show by selecting the radio buttons next to the various color channel labels. The third dimension is presented in the vertical slider (which is updating correctly).

Have you been able to determine if this was a limitation of photoshop, or a feature that could be implemented?

I haven't had time to get to this issue yet - there are a lot of other (higher priority) things on my plate right now.

I understand that this is not a higher priority feature. Is it possible to know which rank it has on your to do list? I bet on #162.

Thank you for your replies anyway and your hard work chris :). You rock!
