P: Neural Filters - not working - "we've temporarily disable filter because of an error"

Now there is a new problem with the colorize filter since installing the latest version of PS.

Before with the older version the filter would not download and someone came up with

a fix that involved removing the files that had the word colorize in it and then it downloaded fine(thank you)

Now I can get the filter to colorize ok,but when I try to click on image to modifiy the color in certain areas, PS puts up a message saying the filter has been temporarily disabled. Is this happening for others? If so does Adobe not check these things before releasing an update, this is the second update in a row to have problems with the colorize neural filter! I'm betting this is the most used neural filter and yet it has the most issues.

Please update to 23.0.1 which was released Tuesday night. Let us know if you're still getting this error with 23.0.1.

Any chance you could post a screen shot of Photoshop with the error message?

Hi,

We're sorry for the issue with the neural filter in Photoshop 22.5. Please try disabling the option to Use Graphics Processor from Photoshop by going to Preferences, then Performance. Once done, quit & relaunch Photoshop to check if that helps.

If the issue persists, take a look at the following troubleshooting article and check the list of known issues and workarounds related to neural filters: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/neural-filters-feedback.html

Let us know if that helps!

Thanks,

Nikunj

This has been an issue for many weeks.  I reported it back in July to the feedback site which has now been closed.  Originally, the error when attempting to add a focal point to the colourised image was "There was an issue running filters" but that error has now been changed in the latest update to "We've temporarily disabled this filter because of an error".  The colourisation actually works but you can't add any focal points which, to be completely honest, kind of makes the entire filter redundant because it almost always needs individual focal point corrections to end up with a half decent job.Screenshot 2021-09-01 150952.jpg

Hi all,

We're sorry for the Neural filter issues after the latest update of Photoshop 22.5. We have acknowledged this issue and logged as a bug. Our engineering team working on the fix. As a workaround, you can rollback Photoshop to 22.4.3 version to resolve this issue for now. We really appreciate your patience with us.

To the Adobe employees suggesting rolling back to 22.4.3 in order to get this working whilst the root cause is resolved, it was already broken in 22.4.3.  It has worked for me for quite some time but then broke for no discernible reason after I was already using 22.4.3.

Hola.

https://helpx.adobe.com/es/photoshop/using/preferences.html

Me dices si te resulta

Hola Eugenio.

PLACA: ASUS X99 Deluxe II
CPU: INTEL i7 - 6800K 3.40Ghz 3401Mhz
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 2400 PC4-19200 16GB CL14. (2x16 Gb = 32 Gb)
GPU: Gigabyte Radeon RX480 Gaming G1 8Gb DDR5.
Monitor 1: BenQ PD3200U 32" 4K Ultra HD LED IPS.
Monitor 2: DELL UltraSharp U2414H 24" LED IPS

Had this problem but now the filter works fine on the latest Photoshop Beta 23.0 that has been released yesterday, so I recommend using the latest beta if you're having this problem.

After a year of fixing scratches etc I am mostly down to the point of colorizing old BW photos. I'm running into a lot of pinks and purples in clothing for some reason, especially on military uniforms. First off, I would think that a military or police uniform, especially with a hat involved, would send up AI flags for a blue or green colorization (an option to go police blue or army green would be great), but instead a lot of mine are full pink uniforms or pink top/purple pants etc. Okay, so let's think about this. When you go out in public, what percentage of people are dressed in pink and purple in comparison to blue, green, red, and many other colors other than pink and purple?

Okay, down to the rest of the meat of the problem. I cannot change anything in "Colorize" due to an error while attempting to use focal point. Is this error caused by something other than Photoshop? Am I one of the few experiencing it? Are there a fixes to try for this error? If not, being a non-subscriber eventually because of the error, is there a way to figure out when it has been fixed so I can resubscribe and finish my projects? Thanks for any suggestions or input.
