P: Convert to Video Timeline option missing - Apple M1 devices

I am not able to select anything but "Create Frame Animation" in the Timeline. I am trying to create a Video Timeline, but not using Frame animation. This option isn't in the bottom left or top right of the Timeline menu.

I have tried resetting my preferences, uninstalling and re-installing, creating a new document, and converting all layers to smart objects, and none of those have worked. I have a macbook pro with macOS Big Sur version 11.2.3 with an Apple M1 chip.

Thank you for the help!

Merci infiniment!!!

LaMiss, unfortunately this is a new problem, looking just like an older one. The old solutions won't work. The solution is: use Rosetta. Let us know if you have no idea what that means.

Thanks for the fast answer. I installed Rosetta 2 via Termiinal now and restartet after. Sadly nothing changed. I can use the Videos on my Older Mac (2019), but not on my new M1 Max, which sucks, because this is where you wanna work with Videos. Any other ideas?

Thanks in advance and happy, happy holidays 🙂

You're nearly there, but you haven't sorted out Photoshop yet. You need to set the Photoshop app to use Rosetta. Believe it on not, it's like this for everyone.

Wonderful! Thank you so much. This did the trick (even if opening PSD now feels like opening it on a 2012 Mac :D).

Wonderful holidays for you!

Im trying to make a simple future city animation in photoshop but the video timeline no longer seems to be an option. The only option I get when I open a new timeline window is a Frame Animation.  I can see the video timeline option on the lower lefthand side but its grayed out. Ive made several future city animations before but have never had this issue.  I have an M1 Mac so maybe thats it?

If you're on a new Apple M1 processor machine, video isn't current supported. It's coming in the future. https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/photoshop-for-apple-silicon.html Run in Rosetta until native support is available for video.

For any future person who has this issue, it it a compatability issue with the M1 — in the CC app under "all apps" you click the 3 dots next to Photoshop, and select "Open (Intel)" and that will resolve it.

2 updates and another year gone by and Adobe still hasn't fixed this. Using Photoshop in Rosetta is not a fix to the problem, why am I paying for a sunscription to use the latest version when the latest version doesn't supply the necessary tools for me to do my job?

I've been able to get video timeline to show up in Photoshop 23.1 but how do you then get the tool bar to work play and add transitions? Thanks! I'm on an MI/Monterey.

You didn't say if you are running PS in Rosetta?

You have the folder selected. Open the folder and select the PS application inside it.
