P: Convert to Video Timeline option missing - Apple M1 devices

I am not able to select anything but "Create Frame Animation" in the Timeline. I am trying to create a Video Timeline, but not using Frame animation. This option isn't in the bottom left or top right of the Timeline menu.

I have tried resetting my preferences, uninstalling and re-installing, creating a new document, and converting all layers to smart objects, and none of those have worked. I have a macbook pro with macOS Big Sur version 11.2.3 with an Apple M1 chip.

Thank you for the help!

Hi @Maria232876158e2u Is the file you want to render a GIF file or a PSD file?

ETA: Sorry, I missed your attachment in the previous post! Apparently, you need to run Photoshop under Rosetta. Please see this info:

Okay. Is it only this one file that you can't render to video? Or with any animation you try to export? Has this ever worked with Rosetta or is this the first time you've discovered the option isn't there? Were you able to render a video with the previous version of PS? If so, you may need to revert to that version for the time being. Do you know how to do that through your Creative Cloud desktop app? Sorry I can't be of more help.

Thanks! This is the answer! I hope they fix this bug. This is going to cause problems for my class. I usually have students rotoscope videos in PS and this will cause a lot of consternation.

Are you on an M1 device? You need to run in Rosetta for Video to work: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/photoshop-for-apple-silicon.html

Hello everybody!

As the subject suggests, I cannot open video files. More specifically, I cannot open a .MOV file, Photoshop gives me this error message: "Could not complete you request because Photoshop does not recognize this type of file.". I'm on a Mac, running Monterey and Photoshop CC 2022.

I have tried the security and privacy route, it was ineffective.

Hi there,

Thanks for the details. We're sorry to hear that Photoshop is not opening. MOV files.

Where are the files located internal or external drive? Did it start happening after any recent updates? How large is the video clip?

Try using Photoshop in Rosetta mode, and check if that helps.

To learn how to run Photoshop in Rosetta, see About Rosetta.

Let us know if this helps.

Thanks.

Hi, Ranjisha.

It seems that running Photoshop using rosetta was the key.

Thanks for your assistance!

I was wondering the similar thing. I had tried to import animations with the processor but I'm not sure how to put it into photoshop.

I haven't tried Rosetta mode. They say they're in gif format but that doesn't work with it.

Weronika, what is the trick that you tried? There is only one solution today, on an M1 Mac with current Photoshop, which is to use Rosetta.

I'm not sure if the M1 and the M1pro chip would be different in how it runs photoshop but even after updating Monterrey still works for me. Not sure if Rosetta is an intel emulator. But the work around I've used has helped a lot of people, I would try to reinstall photoshop and try again.
