So I just tested this using a document with five languages on 10.9 and didn't have a problem. Can you share your setup? What OS language are you running? What app language? What's the language(s) in the document that you're spell checking? What do you mean when you say "Photoshop QUITS"? I mean, does it through an error message, does it crash, does it hang, etc? Also, do you have this problem with every file or just one particular file? Do you have the problem every time you try?
We'd love to get the bottom of the problem you're having and this info will help.
Language : US English & US English & US English for all 3.
It just quits and throw an error massage, when ever I click Edit - > Check spelling.
I attached screenshots of the issue herewith. Thank you.
There are times that I'm able to go through a word or 2 in the spell check before it Quits and throw that error massage above. Other times, it quits and show the above 'Photoshop Quit Unexpectedly' massage right after I click Edit->Spell check from menu. I'm working with the same document at both situations. The Language is US English for my machine, Photoshop and my file.
My machine is a 2015 Mac Book Pro with Retina display.

Full log is attached below. This time, the spell check went through a couple of words before photoshop suddenly quit.
Sometimes Photoshop quit as soon as I select Edit--> spell check, and other times, it quit after going through a couple of words in spell check.
Hmmm. I narrowed down the issue I was having to a custom font I made using Glyphs Mini for my icons. When I removed that custom characters, Spell Check worked fine. Interestingly, I've been using this custom font for over a year now without any issues in PS. This started happening after the most recent PS update.
Seeing as this wasn't an issue previously, I would still classify this as a bug in PS that should be rectified. PS seems to get confused when its Spell Check comes across characters in the Private Use Unicode range (UniE----)
Thanushka, I can't find a simple fix as of right now. I had to remove the icons (there were only a few of them in my comp) and run the spell check and then put them back in. A REAL hastle. Adobe needs to fix this.
Hi Chris, I think I have found the cause of this bug in PS. PS spell check appears to crash when coming across characters who's unicodes reside in the Private Use spectrum (UniE----). The issue is that icons often reside in this spectrum. This bug only recently appeared in the past several PS CC updates.
Feel free to contact me if you'd like me to help out with this.
Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention, Thanushka and Jason. It is, indeed, a bug in Photoshop. I've logged a case for it and with the two files you've sent me, that's a slam dunk. Unfortunately, I'm not quite sure when we'll have a solution as the component in question is not something written or supported by the Photoshop team. Hopefully, however, this fix will be in an upcoming release. Sorry for the inconvenience!
Just wanted to check in on this issue as my project and the team supporting it is maturing to the point where this is quickly becoming a blocker in our workflow. I realize that David said that this is an issue outside of the PS Dev team, but is there an ETA for a fix from the team that is responsible?
