P: Crashes in OpenCL when changing image size (windows)

Anyone else having an issue with Photoshop crashing when trying to change image size.  I have a lot of orders to complete and this was no issue until I did the update.  HELP!!!!!  And I have done three of these

Thanks for submitting a crash report. It looks like the issue is with OpenCL and your card/driver.

Go to Preferences > Performance and click on the "Advanced Settings" button. Uncheck Use OpenCL, restart Photoshop and try your steps to see if the problem persists.

Every time I click Ok in the Image Size box after adjusting the width, Photoshop crashes. I've been sending in crash reports but have not heard anything back yet. I've ensured everything is up to date and tried increasing the memory usage to 90% without success. All other settings are at default. The issue seems to impact all file types (psd, psdc, jpg, png). Any other idea of what I can try?

Try resetting your Photoshop preferences. Press and hold Alt+Control+Shift (Windows) or Option+Command+Shift (Mac OS) immediately after launching Photoshop. You will be prompted to delete the current settings.

(Mac OS only) Open the Preferences folder in the Library folder*, and drag the Adobe Photoshop CS Settings folder to the Trash.

This action only affects the items found in the preferences dialog box. Numerous program settings are stored in the Adobe Photoshop Preferences file, including general display options, file-saving options, performance options, cursor options, transparency options, type options, and options for plug‑ins and scratch disks. Brushes (and lots of other setting) are not affected by the above instructions for deleting preferences. You may wish to make a screen capture of the settings in the Preferences dialog to reset them prior to deleting of this file.

Every time I resize an image, Photoshop (23.2.1 Release) crashes. My solution is to uncheck the "Use graphics processor" box. Do you know why this happens?

What exact GPU do you have in your system, does it meet Photoshop's system requirements.

Have you tried updating the GPU driver from the manufacturers website.

Also try enabling this option in preferences and restarting Photoshop to see if it helps.

Thanks for the reply, I'm using Windows, I have the OpenCL and OpenGL Compatibility Pack (1.2201.1.0) installed. About the ARM device I don't know exactly.

Kind of watching this. I've just started having issues with resize on Win, old machine with Nvidia card. It doesn't crash, but shows one of those nondescript error. Then if I try to resize again I get an error about my graphics processor and that it will be disabled, but then it resizes. Just turned off native canvas. Will have to see if that helps.

Your GPU hardware is powerful enough, and that compatibility pack doesn't add any value. You would need it if your GPU hardware were not up to spec.

• Un-install the compatibility pack
• launch Photoshop and Re-enable your Native Canvas
• quit Photoshop, restart your computer

Any idea where that compatibility pack came from? Did you have it installed manually from the Microsoft store? Photoshop includes a Compatibility Pack sub installer, but that should only happen on ARM hardware.

@GerardoGarciadg Coule we get a copy of the PSD/document you're using when this occurs? (share a link to the file in CC files or dropbox). Also, do you remeber whether Edit > Content Aware Fill or Neural Filters had been used prior to resize?

How do I enable crash reports in PS 23.2 on PC running Windows 10?  I do not see the option in the Preferences.

I'm also getting the resize error.

HP Omen 45L, 12900K, nvidia 3080, Windows 11 with all updates.

I also just updated Photoshop 23.2.1

No special steps.  I simply tried to resize a jpeg image fresh from the camera and the error happens if GPU is turned on.

Work around is to turn gpu off.

@gsasaki , do you have the OCL OGL Compatibility Pack for Windows installed? If so, uninstall it.
