P: Files with fonts/type in them keeps crashing

Since opening my Photoshop 21.1 this morning, it crashes EVERY time I try to use it. When I launched the program, it ran through a screen "validating" photoshop, which I assume means there was another update. I've since uninstalled (twice, including preferences), restarted, and relaunched countless times. Nothing has fixed the issue. It seems to crash quickest with any files containing fonts. Basic JPG images hold on longer before the crash.

It's a good thing I don't have a deadline due for fixing my files...

maybe consider installing the previous version if this one is bugging out? Validating might mean something to do with the Adobe servers, but i really have no definite clue...

If you haven't done so already, please submit all Crash Reports along with your email address: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/submit-crash-reports.html

Engineering is tracking down an issue with crashing with certain fonts/type.

I was on chat with a rep for nearly an hour, even allowed remote access and he still couldn't resolve it. I had to disconnect bc it is late. It appears to be a layers issue.

Photoshop 20.1.0 on Mac Catalina 10.15.3

Since today, if I click on the Type Tool, or open the Character tab, after a few moments, Photoshop quits unexpectedly.

I have been through all of my fonts and removed any with any problems - no difference. And I've removed any fonts installed in the last few days - no difference.

Any ideas?

Howdy Morgan,

Did you go through all the steps outlined here:  https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/troubleshoot-fonts-photoshop.html?
I mention this because if your system cache is corrupted, even if you clear the Photoshop type cache, the system cache will just recorrupt you.  So you need to check both.  If you get any negative results, click the link to send us the results -- it'll come to me anyway.
If that truly fails, then we should talk because your situation would be rather unique.
Thanks,David

I took all your advice, and Ps2020 continued to crash even after restarting my Mac several times.
I reverted back to using Ps2019. BUT a few days later I was working on something and midway realised that I had inadvertently created it in Ps2020. It is now working fine. Odd, but all’s well that ends well.
