P: Function "export as" is not working as it should (Slow)

Hello, for more than a month the "export as" function has stopped working correctly, to export the images I have to keep canceling and opening the function again until it "loads".

Most of the time it just looks like the attached image. As it bothers me and delays my work, I formatted windows and installed all programs again, but the problem persists.

I use the function by clicking with the right mouse button and going to "export as". I don't know if it's relevant, but I use the artboards function a lot for low resolution files (in this case they are web banners)

I'm a Brazilian user, using Google Translate, I apologize for any mistakes, I'm still learning English.

Hi @PauloLobo78 First try going to Photoshop Preferences/Technology Preview and check “Disable Native Canvas”. Then check “Use Older GPU Mode (2016)”. 

If that does not resolve, try resetting your Photoshop preferences manually. Note: Reinstalling does not automatically reset them so you could be installing over bad preference files:

I did the indicated steps (always restarting the program) and the problem persists.

During my tests, I also noticed that the "quick export" function takes longer than expected to show the destination folder.

Is there any relationship?

It seems to me that they don't stop working, they just take a long time to get functional or load.

In my last test, I timed it from the moment I click "export as" until the images appear and I can save.

The waiting time was 1 minute and 7 seconds.

For the "quick export" function, the waiting time was 33 seconds until the option to choose the destination folder appeared.

I have a nice computer setup:

AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 12-Core Processor 4.20 GHz
32,0 GB RAM
RTX 2060

And I would like to mention that I leave the adobe programs on a 126gb SSD just for them and a 1tb scratch disk available

Hi @PauloLobo78 there are numerous posts in the forum regarding Export As being slow including the related conversations on the right column. There is no solution at this time.

Hi @CoryShubert, thanks for noticing that. Before sending this data, I had formatted the computer and installed the Adobe programs again, and I forgot to configure the performance. It was using my Windows installation SSD (100gb)

Usually my scratch disk is a 1tb HD and the problem persist.
I just try after choosing the correct scratch disks, and It takes a long time for the export function to load.

Does it work correctly? 

If that doesn't solve it, you can quit Photoshop and put the Settings folder back.

Hey @Todd_Morgan. I'll help you figure this out. Please share the system info of Photoshop from Help > System info > Copy & paste into a text document > Upload and share with us here.

Does this happen with specific documents? There was a similar report where the issue was reportedly negated by resizing layers within the visible canvas here: https://community.adobe.com/t5/photoshop-ecosystem-discussions/export-as-too-slow-in-photoshop-versi...

If the above does not help, try this:

Go to the location of the preference folder below and rename it to backup. https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html

• Windows 10/11: Users/[user name]/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop [version]/Adobe Photoshop [version] Settings
• Press Windows + R & type this is the Run Window - %APPDATA%\Adobe
  
  
• Rename the Adobe Photoshop folder by adding a .old at the end. (Adobe Photoshop 2023 > Rename > Adobe Photoshop 2023. old)

These changes will give a fresh start to Photoshop as a fresh install. Let me know how it goes.

Hi @Caio C. are you using Quick Export or Export as PNG?

So after the latest update (Photoshop 23.4) the export as feature works 95% of the time super slow. I work wit documents with multiple artboard and whenever I try to export anything through export as, it takes forever to load.

A few times, I thought that maybe i didn't actually click it, so i went to open it again and it would open it with all the artboards repeated twice (fill in an additional resolution, like 1.5, which i didn't select). Then also the check to select/decelect all artboards or individual artboards doesn't work).

It's been happening for a couple of weeks now, i thought something was wrong on my side. But then the other designer from our company said he's been having the same issue. The quick export to png works fine though.

The same sometimes happens when i try to export separate assets from the layer panel through export as as well.

I use windows 11, the other designer uses windows 10.

Hope it can be fixed somehow. Thanks.

Hi @PauloLobo78 , how are you? I'm also Brazilian and I was looking for solutions to this problem, and what I do, at least when I'm working with boards, is click on the board bar, you know? Sometimes the export window appears on the first click, otherwise I keep clicking and then the window appears. NOTE: I'm not clicking to change the name of the board, but a little to the side. At least doing this makes the window appear faster and I don't have to wait for God's will to appear.

Thanks for complementing.

I understand your process of trying to speed up the start of the function, but in my process it is unproductive to wait and/or click to try to make it happen.

I work with multiple monitors and usually three Adobe programs at the same time. (PS, AI, ID) It's a little frustrating that the function doesn't work as it should. And it's only in this function, since when using the save for web function, everything happens normally.

We can only wait for the adobe team to supervise and find the problem.
