I just recently updated to Adobe Photoshop CC 2019, and my healing brush tools and clone stamp tool lags when I use it. I had no prior issues with CC 2018. What gives?
Please update to 20.0.2 and let us know if you're still seeing the lag/spinning cursor while/after brushing. This issue should be fixed in 20.0.2. Thanks for reporting this issue!
The issue where there's a lag with Rulers showing is a separate issue that is still being worked on.
You're welcome 🙂 This issue should have been addressed with 20.0.2 (Photoshop is currently at 20.0.4), so if you're still seeing the lag on current versions of Photoshop we would want to know.
Also Mark, in case you didn't see Rossi's post, he said that hiding the ruler also helped with the brush lag, and the ruler issue was not resolved in 20.0.2.
I have the same problem. PS is on 20.0.4. When using brush or stamp I can not draw fluently. The tool is drawing dots instead of lines. ADOBE PLEASE FIX THIS. 2019 Version is totally useless for me. I am working on mac pro (black one) power horse.
I'm on 20.0.4 and on all my machines the healing stamp tool is almost useless. It doesn't just lag it hangs and I need to toggle away from photoshop and back again to make it continue working. This is the most annoying bug I can remember experiencing in a while. It's infuriating. I need to work on fabric all the time and this has slowed me down by maybe 50% FIX IT.
I have had all the problems listed above. I have downgraded to 2018 and that did not work. I have tried all the fixes mentioned and they do not work.
HEY ADOBE! This is a serious and widespread problem that has gone unanswered. For whatever reason the app is slow as molasses on very important processes and does not seem to be limited to Mac users as a number of Windows users have reported the same problems.
I'm currently using the 20.0.5 release. I still experience the lagging of the Spot Healing Brush. It seems as if the tool stops for a second after a few strokes and then continues with it. Very annoying and frustrating!! I have tried out the most relevant solutions that were presented above. Unfortunately, nothing helps. Working in this way is very counterproductive!! @Adobe: I hope that a solution will be found very quickly.
Clone stamp tool in the latest release (20.0.5) is simply NOT USABLE. Lags, selecting an area takes 2 seconds, it often does not register at all, it copies from a different spot than selected. It is useless in its current state.
Rolled back to 19.1.8 - works like a charm. Windows 10.
It indeed works (much) better, but not completely! I am still experiencing some delays but less frequently. I presume that Adobe will have to look in that direction to find a definitive solution.
After more than a week of intensive testing, I have come to the conclusion that I have solved the problem - at least in my case! The cause was NOT Photoshop itself, but a program that runs constantly in the background: the option 'Live Protection' of Spybot - Search & Destroy. As soon as I disabled this option, the problem disappeared immediately. And not only Photoshop, but also many other programs ran much smoother!
I am on a windows system and also have been having these problems. I went back to earlier version 19.1.8 to try and avoid these problems and have had to turn the rulers off and also take my cache back to 128, but as I am running Nortons your hint Eduard about security seems to have really sped things up for me, as I have just turned off Nortons and the improvement in performance is like the old days - pre 2018 upgrades. As I use spot healing; healing brush and clone stamp all the time even though I subscribe I am reluctant to upgrade to 20.0.6. as from what I have seen here Adobe has still not solved this problem.
I have the same issue with Clone Stamp, it just keeps lagging, unusable. I had to install 2018 version to work, which is better but still a bit laggy comparing with my old PC. I've tried all the solutions mentioned above. None works. Im using a Hp Spectre 15inch, top specs.
@ Du Nguyen Have you tried/seen the solution I mentionened up here? Maybe not Spybot - Search & Destroy, but another antivirus programs that's running in the background?
@jaroslav Bereza: reduced resolution to Full HD reduces lag quite much, although not completely. Yes, im using 4k display from my laptop. @eduard: I dont use any AV programs, just use windows's own defender.
