P: Healing Brush Tool "Use Legacy" does not work in PS 25.11 on MAC

HELP!!!!!

Recently, and fairly out of the blue, my Healing Brush stopped blending. I usually work on an empty layer (sampling 'current and below'), using the Healing Brush Legacy option.

At the moment, my Healing Brush seems to pick up mostly only texture (kind of like a High Pass filter), and not blending at all with whatever is underneath, like a Clone Stamp.

I have tried resetting all settings to default from the Photoshop preferences, but it didn't make any difference.

I have restarted Photoshop, the whole computer, changed files. Nada.

What am I missing? Is this a bug? Do I need to change my Healing Brush legacy settings anywhere? Anyone else encountered the same issues?

I use the Healing Brush for hours a day and it's driving me crazy!!

Thank you in advance.

Same problem here.

In the last update, the healing brush in legacy mode doesn't work with current & below settings.

So frustrating.

What happened was very frustrating, yesterday after an hour with a patient agent trying in every way to resolve this healing malfunction, checking and unchecking several checkboxes in the advanced settings with no solution, he suggested that I do a chat with advanced specialists. After 3 chats with 3 experts working on the machine remotely, one of them had the courage to tell me that the best way to fix the CCD dirt spots would be to use another tool. Let's face it, the tool worked perfectly in previous versions, why now after so much evolution are we seeing so many problems? There is no point in advancing with generative or artificial intelligence tools and giving up the basic functionalities that were perfect. I hope Adobe can resolve this issue as soon as possible in the next update. Let it be quick.

So I hoped the latest uodate would actually help but unfortunately not.

The healing brush is not working with legacy turned op. It's jittery and all over the place.

I've read more complaints, when will this be fixed?

Since it was introduced, it was for me maybe most important tool for retouching. Without it retouching takes much, much longer. Please, fix it; I don't want anymore to use PS 2023 version, which is latest working version.

Unfortunately, even after last update 25.12 the healing brush in legacy mode doesnt work properly. Still the same weird behavior like before! How is possible that it is still not fixed, after almost a two months? Is this really valuing of your customers? The legacy mode healing brush is absolutely key feature of photoshop......!

Please fix this, I cannot install the Beta version due to the older MacOS version, so this fix is crucial for retouching.

There is big colour display difference between PS 2024 VS PS beta, therefore I will not use the Beta version.

But the healing brush tool "use legacy" does not work in PS 25.12 on Mac.

Please help!!!

Fixed in PS beta can't help the situation. Layer cannot tranfer between PS 2024 and Beta, and there is huge colour difference two apps. Colour does not match and you will need a lot of extra work load to handle the issue.

A major problem from July is still not fixed in a final release of PS after 3 month instead we get betas and AI stuff...
Sorry Adobe but this isn't acceptable! I don't need AI, I need to work constantly on clients projects with working software in final releases!

Cory Shubert considered problem solved: use beta.
Even if you can't, don't want or beta doesn't suit you because of many other bugs.
Why bother fixing bugs, when in month or two there will be a next version of Photoshop?

One or two month is a long time when you work everyday in the business. And the beta have color problems that make a retouching workflow unusable. The problem exists since july. so that means that the industry have to wait to half a year to have a version that works again? Come on but that couldn't be the goal...

Healing brush is one of the most used things in fast retouching and they killed it in one version. It's not one of this fancy stuff what's going on that you eventually use.
They are working more and more against the industry with their decisions what I can handle but essential tools have to work flawlessly.

Yes, I know. I'm using PS2023 for retouching, but this is not a solution for long term, cause there are few good features in PS2024. But it's unusable right now because of one of most important tool doesn't work. I could expect someone could fix it already, restore previous version at least. But it seems like no one cares about retochers.

After update to latest stable version tool is working, but the results are inaccurate. I guess Adobe push Photoshop away from retouchers, towards something else, idk.

I have last version of photoshop and when i want to use the old healing brush, it only work properly if Im using one layer. Whenever i used two layers or more, healing brush is behaving like with 100 hard edges - more sort of clone tool if you put actual layer, when you switch to all layers it doesnt do anything.

Select all of your layers and then Ctrl-alt-shift-E will create a flattened layer (without affecting the other layers) on top that can be used to heal.
