P: Helvetica Neue Bold doesn't render spaces under Lion

Loaded up some PSDs that I had created in Snow Leopard after installing Lion and they looked fine... except for one thing. Anywhere that I used Helvetica Neue Bold there were no spaces in between words anymore.

This issue doesn't occur in anything else other than Photoshop (I've actually also seen it in Illustrator). Tried clearly Adobe font cache, multiple times... no dice. It would be very awesome to get a solution on this because it's preventing me from using that font, which is used quite often.

Apple fixed this in subsequent releases of OS X (10.7.x) or later.

Agreed! Thanks.

As for the HelveticaNeueDeskUI.ttc, I deleted that from my System/Library/Fonts folder, but it still exists in that deep rooted folder.

Likewise very pleased to see the Adobe crew are on the case! I'd have to admit that when this issue first raised it's ugly (and very bold) head, I was wondering if Apple had made some changes to the handling of the typeface in question with the Lion update ; by the looks of things, they have!

I've tested CS3, CS4, CS5, and CS5.1 and the problem only occurs with CS3 and CS4.

I can confirm that the above works on CS3 (only tested Photoshop). Thanks for the fix, Adam!

We'll work with Apple on this issue. Adobe applications aren't the only ones affected. Sounds like even Safari is bitten by this issue.

Let's hope there is a quick fix for the problem. To some that may not be a big deal, but for iOS developers, a working Helvetica Neue Bold is a necessity.

Hey Adam - If adobe/apple figure out a fix for this do you think we will need to reverse this process in order to move forward without errors?

Not sure. Depends on how they fix it. They may end up re-shipping a "fixed" font, or it may be a software issue within CS.

Have any errors occurred for you from changing something? I haven't encountered anything, and I'm thinking it's pretty safe and future-proof.

We've been in contact with Apple. They are aware of the problem and are working on a fix, probably in a future update.

That means the fix won't come from Adobe's side?

Same problem. How can we get notified as soon as this is fixed?

Apple has just released OS X 1.7.1, but the problem remains.

Will Adobe do something about it?

We're still working with Apple on it. Since the problem affects many applications, including non-Adobe applications, the fix isn't likely to come from individual applications.

I'm trying to use the Print module (and the LR templates) to create the following:
I want 2 different photos to have 2 different watermarks (for example Alaska and Hawaii).
I'm trying to use the Custom (2) 4x6 template for either making a print or saving as a jpeg file for other purposes.
However, when I select only one photo and set the watermark, the watermark is automatically added to both photos.
It would be nice to be able to individually watermark different photos.
Thanks
Andrew
