There seems to be an issue with Photoshop 2023, which the Perspective Warp tool makes the images appear upside down. It is only after approval that the images resume their orginal position. ie Correct way up.

What is going on?

Adobe Photoshop Version: 24.1.0 20221206.r.166 be4691b x64

Engineering is looking into this issue.

As workaround, go to Preferences > Technology Previews... and enable "Older GPU mode (pre 2016)" - Restart Photoshop.

Sorry everyone for the “won’t fix” confusion. We’ll set this thread to Investigating as we currently don’t have a “cannot reproduce” status we can use in the thread. This issue seems to affect older generation GPUs between 8 and 13 years old. We’ll continue to investigate but cannot guarantee a fix for this one will come for older GPUs. Affected GPUs posted in this thread so far:
  • NVIDIA
  • GeForce GTX 680
  • GeForce GTX 780
  • GeForce GTX 960M
  • Nvidia Quadro K1200
  • Quadro K620
  • Quadro M1000M
  • AMD
  • Rade

Workaround - Transform Warp works when I select the mask of a layer.

e.g Creating a Blank Mask, Selecting that Mask, Warping (the pixel layer is visibly warping without flipping upside down)
commit the warp & the pixel layer retains the warp adjustments.

Hi again, I'm afraid to not have expressed myself properly, they might not list every reported bug in there, that link lists the non critical bugs that are discovered at the last minute before release time. I can tell you that the teams work relentlessly to fix bugs and issues, but might need to be able to replicate it before they can find its cause.

in the meantime, did you try to Install a previous version from the Creative Cloud application: https://helpx.adobe.com/download-install/using/install-previous-version.html

Update:

My Perspective Wrap tool has resumed normality. In other words, selected images aren't flipping. I have no idea how it happened.

But I do want to say Thank you to all these who posted here with their comments and suggestions.

This is what makes the Adobe Community great, and a valuable asset.

Hi, thank you for the report!

Can you check if your GPU driver was auto-updated?

Thank you for the update @Abarthphile595 and kind words...

Curious if you are still on 24.0.1 or if you updated to 24.1.1? Would love to know if the update solved this for you or if some other change you make to your system did.

Thank you,

Cory

Yes, one way to be sure is to go to help>System info, the full version number is given there on the first line.

Great news! However, please share what version you are on or if you switched to latest version from previous version, or if you made any changes to your installed version (preferences, GPU, etc). Thanks!

Transform Warp works normally when I make layer mask next to (pixel layer).

So, this is Ps (version 24.1.1) problem not GPU problem.

When you transform, the image is automatically flipped upside down! But the grid does not. It turns out some nonsense, which is impossible to control. If I press "apply changes", the image returns to its normal appearance.
Resetting the settings does not help. What can I do?

Hey all, checking here to see if we have had anyone try these as a workaround?

Is your graphics card driver up to date? What graphics card do you have? What happens if you turn off "Use Graphics Processor" in Preferences > Performance?

If that helps, and you have an older graphics card, try turning it back on, then go under Preferences > Technology Previews, and try enabling "Older GPU Mode (pre 2016)."

Thank you,

Cory

@CShubert in answer to your question

Nvidia K620, latest drivers, Turning OFF use GPU or a switching to "older GPU" makes processing unacceptably slow

The problem disappears when I add a Mask to the layer as reported in my previous post. How is adding a mask to the layer to resolve the issue GPU related?

Good evening,

I have tried the workaround enabling 'Older GPU Mode'...It did work..However...It slowed the application so badly due to my image size I couldnt really keep that setting enaged...So I turned it off...I then shut the app down..Then restarted the app to get a fresh start...Funny thing is..The 'Warp' issue (Vertical Flip) did not happen again after that..Its as if turning that setting on and then back off solved the problem..

In additional, I do have an old card..

NVidia GeForce GTX680

Windows 10 Pro

32gb RAM

i7-3820 CPU

So its an older System but its in cherry condition..It never touches the internet except for updates..

Again..I turned that setting on..then turned it off..shut down PS 2023...Then opened it again..and the issue has not reoccurred...

When I use the Warp tool, it turns the whole image upside down. Completely impossible to use the tool.

@CShubert

Hi. I noticed an update to PsCC 24.1.1 was available and thought what th'heck, let's go for it and see what happens.

Well ... what happened was that the bug is back. So I checked the "Older GPU...." box and—PRESTO!—the offending bug ceased to offend. As it stands, I'm on PsCC 24.1.1 with no bug and "Older GPU ... ", that is until the bug is stamped out, I suppose.

BTW, I do not notice any slow-down as a result of checking the "Older GPU ... " box; PsCC continues to work at lightning speed.

Every time I go to use the warp tool it automatically flips the later 180 degrees. I found this old post about it from 2012, and here it says the bug has been fixed but I am using Photoshop CC 24.1.1 and I am still having the issue. What is the solution, I've never had this problem until now.

Specs:
OS: Windows 10 - v22H2 (OS Build 19045.2486)
CPU: Intel Core i7‐4770K 3.5GHz Quad‐Core (4th Gen)
RAM: 32 GB
GPU: Asus GeForce GTX 780 3GB of vRAM
256GB SDD

What does the ambiguous Bug status "Won't Fix" mean? "Will Not fix" could mean Adobe can't fix it or they will not fix it. Either way I assume this will never be fixed.
